It was supposed to be a float trip campout weekend. The weather turned bad and they wound up losing 5 vehicles and the Troop trailer. Everyone got out safe though.

Here are the stories...

My son and I were not on this trip, but wow!! Must have been scary.

Wow, just reading that account got my heart pumping. Thankfully everyone got out safe because it could have been a LOT worse.

That is scary stuff, glad no one was hurt. The equipment can be replaced.

Thank God everyone made it OK! You and the other leaders definitely trained them to "Be Prepared".

Just a follow-up....

The dust is starting to settle on this somewhat. Lucky for us we will likely be able to salvage the trailer. There was some damage but It's looking like we will be able to work that out. The steel frame trailer took a beating but kept together pretty good. At one point the water was running over 20 feet deep. Most of the gear was ruined though. All the cast iron is gonna have to be completely overhauled. The cook stoves were all complete losses. They're full of mud and what not. Our chuck boxes were all completely shot. We have salvaged some cookware, and hardware. The tough part has been, gear-wise, everything was in a multiples of 6 or 8 so everything we lost, we lost a bunch of. Everything we've kept still has a coating of mud on it.

A total of 5 cars or trucks went down the river. The adults have been OK with the insurance settlements so far. They'd done a lot better if it hadn't been a rising water problem though.

Anyway, thanks for all the kind thoughts and prayers.

Edited to fix Linky....
