Mich. cruisers worry days of classic cars are over

excerpt:

As the industry turns toward more fuel-efficient and even electric vehicles, classic car owners worry the soul of the cars that symbolized personal freedom, speed, status and sex appeal have been lost. In their place, the highways are filled with identical sedans that hum along, one just like the other, none more spectacular than the next.

I was thinking this same thing the other day.

Since my Magnum RT was totaled....nothing in the car arena seems that it is its own car. They're all cookie cutters.

Yeah, the new muscle car era is dying before it even really had a chance. :( I'm glad I bought my Shelby when I did. Have you tried checking out getting a used SRT8 Magnum?

Yea....the want to much for the used stuff.

There's a GT500 in the area! :D

I did price out the new Camaro 2SS!

I may be biased, but the GT500 to me is one of the baddest, sexiest cars out there to me when it comes to the new muscle cars. Plus, the engine in these things is bullet proof, Evolution Performance was pushing over 1,100 RWHP out of a stock block using a twin turbo setup running I believe either 21 or 22 pounds of boost. Beastly. They are working on their built block now and planning on upping the boost even more.

If you work at it, you can get GT500's talked down to the 37k range, which is a damn good deal. I bought mine right as the buying frenzy on them was slowing down, and I got mine for 2k under sticker, which was unheard of at the time. If I had known what the future would bring, I would have waited and bought one now. See if they will let you test drive it! What's the color scheme on the Shelby?

I have to admit, while I am not a big fan of the ass end of the new Camaro, coming head on it looks pretty wicked. I'd love to test drive the SS and see how it feels in comparison to my car. If you don't mind me asking, what price range are you looking in or what are you looking to spend per month?

I forget the color scheme. I'm not sure of the price range....it's more the 'car'!

The kids of today are souping up the Acura's and Infiniti's. The Japanese learned how to stagnate their economy 20 years before us. Maybe we'll start catching up.

Hey Gary, I saw a real nice 2008 Dodge Charger R/T Sedan (brand new) the other day at NEWBURGH PARK MOTORS (888) 745 - 8341. It's loaded to the gills with the 5.7 V-8 Hemi and all. You may want to take a look at it as it's a real eye catcher..... :)

The kids of today are souping up the Acura's and Infiniti's. The Japanese learned how to stagnate their economy 20 years before us. Maybe we'll start catching up.

I had a Honda Civic that I had fairly tricked out back in the 90's. Now when I drive up to the gas pump I miss that car a lot. When you think about it, that whole tuner scene wasn't that far different then the kids who tricked out their bugs in the 60's-70's.

When I walk around my neighborhood I look at all the cool cars some of my neighbors have. Some new, some retro. One person has a clean 50's or 60's Thunderbird or something like that. Huge, big, black sedan. If I had the money to burn I'd offer to buy it off of him. Also, parked at some mechanic around the corner from me is a 70's Cadillac sedan that's probably longer than my Dodge Ram! I'd love to buy it and restore it!

Gary, I was at the Dream Cruise this weekend. I saw a 'cuda, though i'm uclear as if it was a pre-production, concept, or just someone or some entity decided to take a challenger and make it into a 'cuda. Damn it looked good though, and it was a convertible. It definitely was different imo.

How about that 2010 Ford Taurus SHO? 365HP Twin Turbo V-6 with AWD sounds pretty nice!

A little off topic but I just saw the commercial for it and got excited.

The industry has been putting out cookie cutter cars for years. Nice to see the Challenger and Camaro again. Of course the Mustang never left. :whistling: Don't care for the tail lights on the 2010 though.
