NEW LIMITED EDITION ANNOUNCED
Our Malt Master has revealed the successor to last year’s limited edition release.
The Balvenie Madeira Cask is a spicy counterpoint to the rich sweetness of last year’s RumCask.
Available in selected shops from September and being bottled right now, the new Edition is finished in casks that once held Madeira, the fortified wine from Portugal’s Atlantic archipelago.

The Balvenie Madeira Cask is the latest in a series of six 17 Year Old limited edition releases by The Balvenie Distillery Malt Master, who retains a passion for experimentation even after 30 years in the role. Each year’s edition has used different cask types to create a new expression of The Balvenie for limited release.

David Stewart describes his latest release as having extracted some wonderful rich spice and distinct raisin flavours from the Madeira cask.

The Balvenie Madeira Cask 17 Year Old provides a fascinating contrast to the sweeter RumCask, complementing beautifully The Balvenie’s uniquely honeyed character.

In Arizona we didn't see the Rum Cask until Christmas or maybe even later and I still haven't seen the 12 year Signature on the shelves. Hopefully we don't have to wait so long for this one.

Seen the new 17 at the liquor store today but they were asking 119 for the bottle...so I left it there.

I think Balvenie is realizing they are close to Macallan in the world of Scotch and have raised their prices. Granted these are limited but so was the 17 Sherry Cask, the first in this line of limited editions, and it was only around $70-80.

I had the chance to try a glass in DC, and it was very nice experience. The flavor was perky but smooth, and the name comes from the casks that they used to make it. I would say if you are looking for a cool addition to your bar, this could be a saver bottle if you like the sweeter side. I was good, but at the price point I would go for the traditional 15 or the 21 portwood,

I'm waiting until my birthday to pick one up. Too much going on right now.

It just showed up here at $125. When the original RumWood was issued, a friend in Scotland arranged bottles for some of us . . . mine got sat on in transit and arrived in shards. Wet, wonderful smelling shards of broken glass. :0 :0 :0

So . . . I'll probably cough up the $125 eventually. Just not Thanksgiving week!

Boar,

That sucks... I'm a Balvenie guy myself..love the double wood. It's my standard. I'll have to find this once I get back from deployment.

Hope the next bottle arrives at your bar intact..

Cheers,

R
