Mille Grazie Doc... I almost forgot until my Nonna called me... time to go eat some Zeppole

Got up this morning and started fixing a big pot of my Spaghetti Sauce for tonight's dinner. Have bread baking now to go with it. The smell permeating through the house is driving me crazy and I have to wait until my wife gets home to serve dinner!

Might have to take a slice of bread and try the sauce before she gets home. Just to make sure it alright, of course!

Happy Saint Joseph's Day to everyone.

Happy Saint Joseph's Day to all!! I want you to know that I carried a picture of him in my Kevlar when I went to Iraq in 2003. I figured no one, let alone an Iraqi, would know what it was, but I was fooled. I took my helmet of one day in Mosul and my translator, a Chaldean Christian, recognized him immediately. He took out his St. Joe's medallion he wore and we became instant friends. Life is funny. I have it no hanging in my office and it is pretty beat up, but I keep it. Again, Happy St. Joe's day!!

I'm not surprised. He's been the patron Saint of the Church since the late 15th cent.

Doc,

I visited churches there that were founded by St. Thomas and St. Bartholemew (sp?). Even if that is challenged these churches have records that go back at least to the third century. You can see a piece of the church that was in a cave and as Christianity was more accepted and grew it built out of the cave into a building into a catheral. The first monastery in Christendom was founded right outside of Mosul, Iraq. That is history.
