About 3 weeks aol charged me 50 bucks. this was a mistake. in doing that, they shot me into the negative on my checking account. my bank charged me twice (there were two seperate fees) and the total came to about 100. Aol refunded me the mistaken 50 bucks, but said my bank needed to fax them a letter showing my over draft fees. Well they did and AOL, for two weeks, hasn't said anything about it. I called today and they are gunna do it. It was there mistake but they won't pay me back. Well, I hate aol. :angry2:

There, I feel better.

PS. it's not that I can't afford the 50, it's that aol charged me at a time where the account was not ready. Remeber, I am in college! :p

Sorry but I don't have much sympathy for ya. AOL is one of the absolute worst companies to deal with and I avoid them like the plague.

We've even had threads here about them in the past......

I can't believe any college boy smart enough to turn on a computer is with AOL. ???

I also just had a run in with AOL and they suck! Last summer my screen name was grabbed by someone and used for spamming. I got shut down and had to call and have the account reset. Then I had 2 accounts and they were charging me twice. The second account did not show up under key word "billing" but it did on my credit card statement. And it was $10 more than the main account. After I explained this to the rep (someone outside the US BTW) the only answer was to send a note to the HQ. The she had the stones to try and sell me something else. I already have another provider and will never go back to the jerks. Next step is small claims court. They billed me for 6 months for the two accounts and would not stop. In fact the billing continues and I have contested it with the credit card company.

I was down on Captiva Island in Florida a few years ago and now I know how AOL could afford to build that friggin huge mansion on the beach for their Execs!!

If you use ICQ you can still communicate with your AOL brethren w/o supporting the Evil Empire.

I know many people who have been F#*!*ed over by AOL.

I wouldn't piss down their [AOL] throats if their guts were on fire!

Well I have never had aol but I have been using aim for about 7 years. I did however always play frisbee with the promo c.d.'s

Does anyone remember the internet before AOL opened a portal to it? I do. It was sometime in 93-94. AOL users did not have access to the internet, just the AOL chat rooms, sites, apps, etc. They all thought that the AOL content they were seeing was the interweb. Then AOL decided to open the flood gates and all these idiots got on the internet. I think we called it Black Monday or something like that. Now, I'm not saying that if you're a current AOL user, you're stupid, but the AOL users back then did not have a clue.

Ah, the memories.

hence the "all-seeing eye" in their logo? :0
glad to have never dealt with aol.

The Evil Empire actually owns ICQ. I use one of the open source programs that allows you to communicate with all the other instant messenger thingies.

As for AOHell.... Gar-Bage.

If you have AOL, should we assume that you also have that 8-track player?   :whistling:

At least they aren't owned by Microsoft......

There is exactly one reason to be using AOL as an ISP, and that is, if you frequently move/travel, you can get dialup service nationwide. Other than that, there are far better ISPs out there.
