Today's Smoke 2025

Well, it had to happen. My first dog rocket in a long time. Surprising, since DT&T are supposed to put out top drawer smokes.

I’m liking Kohnhed’s review, this smokes like the factory janitor’s daughter was apprenticing in cigar rolling and this was her first day on the job. No draw, no smoke production. Got out the trusty PerfecDraw and pulled from the draw end. No joy. So pulled from the lit end and blew out the end like an exploding cigar. Never had that happen before. Something seriously wrong with the bunch. Cut off the last half inch and relit it to salvage it. See here.

Jeebus, never had that happen. Lit it up again and STILL hard to draw, very little smoke production, but it worked. Sort of.

You can see from the ash pic this thing was WAAY too tight.

I kept at it because I kept hoping it would redeem itself. But the smoke production still wasn’t what it should have been and the flavor was flat. Toward the end it started to behave better and produce more smoke, but the flavor was just bitter. I finished it out of sheer determination. But I won’t get any more of these.

Maybe it was a bad one-off, but not interested in testing that theory. Too many good sticks out there to waste time giving this another chance.

Maybe too wet?

@MX I thought that might be it, but it was in the 62% dry box for 3-4 days. I really think it was a roller issue. I’ve never had the PerfecDraw yank out that big a chunk of tobacco before.

There could be several contributing factors, I suppose, but there’s no denying it was rolled WAY too tight. And it just didn’t taste that good.

Maybe I got a lemon. That’s possible. Maybe probable. But I’m not inclined to try one again

@dawgie how was the blend? Did you enjoy it? Maybe I did get a lemon and shouldn’t be too quick to judge based on one stick.

But this was disappointing to be sure.

I did enjoy it, from start to finish. Where did you buy it? How long did you let it acclimate? Keep in mind, cigars are made by hand from completely natural components. Every once in a while there’s a dud. I personally would try another one. If you don’t like that one either, then you’ll know for sure, and you’ll only be out $7 and change.

I wanted something easy and mild for a hardware run.

Ave Maria Immaculata.

@rbbrock yeah something very relaxing about an Immaculata.

I’m going to agree I got a lemon. I’ll look for an opportunity to try another one. Not ten. Maybe a fiver if I can find it for cheap at cigarbid or something.

I respect the consensus around here a lot. But somehow I got a stinker.

Read more reviews, and I deeply respect this community. I’ll throw a fiver into an order later if I can. This was a serious dud, but probably really was an unusual lemon. It happens.

I had a 5-pack of some very nice cigars. Stick #1 behaved just as you describe. I was curious, and fished out stick #2. Same 5-pack, same humidor. Stick #2 smoked perfectly. Go figure.
