Hey folks..Relativelly new to the pipe smoking world but I have already decided on some favorites.. in order

1) penzance 2) fox and hound 3) frog morton

would love to here about what other folks consider good ..(mostly so i could sneak out and try something new :D)..and find out just where we all stack as far as differances and similaritys in choice

1. OVTC - London Night
2. McClelland - Dark Star (this is a flake, once it gets lit, good stuff)
3. John B. Hayes McHayes (scottish blend, heavy on the latakia)
4. Macbarren - Roll Cake Spun Cut (tends to burn rather hot)

1 and 3 are from local B&Ms. I'm a huge fan of latakia, and tend to shy away from the "cherry" aromatics.

Old Virginia Tobacco Company
John B. Hayes tends to be non-customer oriented to put it lightly.

My absolute favorite is the following:

1.) Da Vinci http://www.smokingpipes.com/tobacco/by-mak...product_id=8994

2.) Mac Baren Navy Flake

3.) Peterson University Flake

There are many B&M blends that I absolutely love and many others that cant be put on the list simply because I've been smoking pipes to long to remember all the pipe tobacco I've had.

My all-time favorite is Harvest cut, from our local B&M shop (http://www.riegelspipeandtobacco.com/). Other favorites are Rattray's Red Raparee and Hal O' the Wind, Balkan Sasieni, and I am fond of Frog Morton too. Da Vinci is definitely on my list to try.

My favorites seem to change everytime I try a new blend.

But if I had to list, this is what it would be (today) in no particular order:

C&D's Plantation Evening
C&D's Old Joe Krantz
Wessex Burley Slice
Peterson's University Flake
Hearth & Homes Arlington Spice
JustForHim Middle Earth Blends (all 4 of 'em)
Peretti's London Slice and Boston Flake

I had to stop there, it was getting unweildy.

Traditional/English

1. Dunhill Night Cap
2. McClelland British Woods
3. St. Bruno flake

Aromatics

1. Bobs chocolate Flake
2. Nougat
3. RLP-6

Penzance, Frog Morton On The Town, & my own imitation Balkan Sobranie (substitute) ..

and sherry casked scotch to go with, how did you ever guess? :whistling:

As a poor grad student (and cheap-ass to boot), I've pretty much only smoked bulk tobacco from my local shop, Campbell's in East Lansing. That said, I have at least an ounce of all (~25) of their blends
My three favorite:
1)50th anniversary, a robust chocolate toasty aromatic affair
2)#2, a full English latakia bomb
3)#17, The Chateau, a nice smooth aromatic with some wine plug and other stuff that results in a smooth, cool smoke and a fantastic aroma

As an aside, it's worth seeking out if you are in the area, they do some nice blends, have a full complement of cigars and are reasonably priced.

Narrowing the choices to three baccy's dosen't say much about my favorites. There are about 10 to 15 blends in my stash that are top notch and would be considered favorites.

Here are three:
A&C Peterson-Escudo
Dunhill-Light Flake
Rattray-Old Gowrie

Oh Hell, I can't leave these out:
Samuel Gawith-Best Brown Flake
Rattray-Brown Cluny
Orlik-Golden Sliced & Dark Srong Kentucky
McClellands-2010, 2015, Blackwoods Flake
Cornell & Diehl-Three Friars, Bayou Morning, Winchester

I'll stop there  .
