Travel Humi

I am looking at buying a travel humi for at least 10 to 20 cigars or more. I have looked at a few brands on the net but are not sure if they are all they say.
Any body here use them or know of a good brand that is shock proof and safe for my Cigars to travel in (between states in the car and when I fly to New Zealand)

get yourself a nice otterbox. They keep humidity well, they're waterproof, and damn resiliant (sp?). Check with cigarharmony.com
 
I own a couple of those otterboxes of different sizes and use the size that works for the time I am gone. They are great and really do take a beating and keep on ticking. Never had a problem. I usually take them on the plane with me, but they also work well in luggage. Good hunting!! :cool:

I own two of the Otter brand. They'll get the job done. The RoadWarriors are expensive, but look worth it. You should get one with the air valve on it. I live at 6000 feet. When I travel closer to sea level, its sometimes difficult to get the bugger open.

I didn't notice an interior picture of the Otterbox on cigarmony.com. What humidification method does the otterbox employ?

The 2, 5, 10 & 15 count Cigar Caddy comes with a tiny floral foam humidifier that you are supposed to add PG solution (or distilled water to) but they don't work very well. (Assuming your cigars are properly humidified to begin with, you don't need a humidification unit for the 2 or 5 count and it will last a few days just fine).

The 10 & 15 count Cigar Caddy can accept the Puck-50 with a slight modification to the foam in the lid.

The 18, 30 & 50 count X-Treme travel humidors will accept the Puck-100 without any modifications :thumbs:

Yeah, what Mark said. Otherwise what I do is throw a couple of the Boveda Humidpaks similar to the ones that come in Hemingway boxes. Or another inexpensive, temporary travel solution is to use those "water pillows".
 
The only thing I don't care for with my Otter boxes is the foam. It seems you could use one more layer for times when you're not filling that sucker, and the foam could have better "slots" if you will. If I ever need to get another, I'm pretty sure it'll be a Road Warrior.

Yes I was a bit unsure on the foam. What I really need to know is can you use viper beads in them as when I ride or drive to Darwin it can take a week in 113 degree heat so I need a reliable humi system.
I will probably be getting the road warrior as it has a large capacity and a 10 or 15 Otter for long weekend rides.
