Being the Gurkha whore that I am I had to try one of these new X3's. I picked up a special and got them for about $3.50 each. These have a very nice "earthy" pre-light oder that matches the very dark brown wrapper.

The flavor is reminiscent to a '26 maduro but obviously not the same, it still reminded me of one though. The flavor kept the "earthiness" and leather down to the last 2 inches when things spiced up a bit. Overall, not a bad medium bodied smoke.

Medium :0 I'm afraid to smoke an Antano and figured these would be even more kick a$$. Thanks for the review.

I also thought that they would be alot stronger than they were. They ended up being a pretty good smoke. Thought I would wince but I enjoyed every bit of it. Accurate review!

I was expecting to be knocked on my butt like with an Oliva Bold Maduro but they weren't that bad. Maybe medium was a bit low of a rating so I'd say leaning to the fuller side of medium :p

knowing you you bought a box :p :whistling: im gonna try and make a deal with the devil cuz i wanna try them, love those gurkhas

Just smoked one today and did a search before starting a new thread for a review. Very good description of the smoke, AVB, but I would agree that full is a better description than medium for this smoke. It did have a smooth, round flavor that makes maduros such a good smoke sometimes.

Mine had too much pepper in it for my taste, though. I like to relax when smoking and found that part of the flavor (or should it be 'feeling'?) to be a little much. Kept me on the edge of my truck seat a little more than I wanted to be. I have a couple more and will try them in a couple months.

Does a pepper profile tone down like a tannin one does? Is it permanent or something that mellows with age?

A $3.50 cigar that reminds you of a '26 sound pretty damn good to me.

According to CI this is a brazilian wrapper. It may mellow a little but probably not much. I'd bet this one will retain most of its pepper spice because the spice comes mainly from the wrapper and not the blend.

But hey i could be wrong ???

Did someone say Brazilian Maduro wrapper :0 ? Oh Im all over this, haven't seen them around anywhere if someone knows where to get a few PM me.

Thanks,

CYG

I've tried a few of these and really enjoy them. I'd place the cigar in the medium-full range. Similar to the Gurkha Doble Maduro.
