OK. I usually send my stuff out by boxing it at home and using the automated system in the post office to pay and print out the label to put on the package. The USPS website then seems to never update (always says "No record of that item") until the package is delivered.

I know some people print out their labels at home. When you do this you get the message at USPS that "The USPS was electronically notified to expect..."

When you actually go to the window at the USPS, do they scan it in and then the website will say "Item accepted" etc.?

Three different methods of paying postage and getting DC#s = three different messages on the website until delivery?

Seems these never get updated until the item is delivered, at least that's been my experience.

Just curious.

:whistling:

A DC# is just that, a DELVERY CONFIMATION number not a status in transit number. All you have is proof the item was delivered. Or am I missing your question?

exactly what happens.

I spoke to the woman at my post office. She told me the only good thing about printing out your own labels is you get the DC# for free but you only get the "post office was electronically notified ,essage until it is actually delivered" But when you go to the post office and pay the 45 cents you get the item was accepted at so and so post office" But like someone said. THE USPS DC # is not a tracking number per say..it is just a delivary confirmation that the item was delivered.

Right, I knew that. I was just wondering about the different messages you get (while it is in transit) on the USPS website.

I was just involved in my first pass, and that damn DC# almost caused me a bit of heartache - just remember one thing - it don't allow tracking, just confirmation of delivery!

Yep, only DC as stated. Tracking would be nice - took me a few times to figure this out. :angry2:
