Hey guys just wondering is vacuum sealing cigars harsh on the cigars due
to fact that you’re sucking :whistling: all the air out of them. And how long can they stay in a vacuum seal before they get damage.

I wouldn't think that vacuum sealing is a good idea. When you seal it pulls the moisture out as well as the air. I also could see the process crushing the cigar. :( Think of the advertisements on t.v. for the clothes sealer. Compresses to a quarter of original size for easy compact storage. I could be mistaken however.

I got shipped a fiver once that the sender vac sealed. They arrived looking like a 5 count culebra. I poked the bag and tossed it in the humi. About a week later, they had mostly regained their original shapes. Tasted fine.

Thanks guys is just that a vender sent me cigars vacuum seal, so I thought it was cool but when examine the cigar they were so thin that the bands fell off and cold so I pop them in coolerdor after a few hours they expanded and went back to normal. So I got no problem smoking them now.

Single sticks are risky...but as others have said, it works OK. I have received and sent out BOXED cigars that were vacuumed sealed. In the time the process takes to seal them, very little (if any) moisture is removed.

I know many who have experimented with vacuum-sealing whole boxes. Just be gentle and don't crush the box. Fans of it say that, though it slows the aging process and takes longer, it preserves more of the volatile oils and other delicate flavors and makes for more beautiful aging.

Is there any air exchange in a vacuum sealed environment? Does the type of plastic or bag for something like the Foodsaver have breathable properties like cello? I'm guessing no or else you would lose the vacuum effect over time. Too much work for me.
