Being an avid knife user and collector, there's never a bad time to add something to the collection and this week I added a nice little Cigar Cutter Knife from Victorinox.

I have a boat load of knives and tools from Victorinox and they always provide a great product for the money. This one did not disappoint.

I tried out the largest punch this afternoon on a nice 5 x 50 robusto and it provided an excellent, clean cut. The plug was removed from the cigar cleanly and was dispatched to the trash with a slight push from the opposite side opening of the punch. No muss, no fuss and the result was a great draw and a cigar with a very neat appearance. (Now I won't have to cower in shame while deploying my giveaway guillotine cutter.)

I admit I haven't used any of the other high end cutters such as Palio or Xikar, but this is a nice tool since it incorporates three different punch sizes, a knife blade, scissors and nail file/cleaner.

As is usual with Swiss Army products, it can be found heavily discounted from retail at various vendors on the net.

Here is a link that provides a little more info on the tool:

I too, am a knife aficionado and I got to tell you, I think, the Wenger is a better knife.

Doc.

Well, Doc, since I have no direct experience with the Wenger I can't dispute your claim, so you may well be right.

I do, however, ordinarily favor the Victorinox offerings over Wenger where the knives are similar.

Most of us over at bladeforums.com (where I've been a mod for several years) seem to share that perspective but I know that there are always exceptions.

Thanks for the review. I'm not a knife aficionado, so don't have much experience, but this is the first knife I've ever seen with a cigar punch. A lot of folks here swear by the SAK for clipping their cigars, though.

Neat looking knife, looks as though it's easy to use, thanks for the link.

The Wenger Swiss Army has a cigar scissor instead of a punch and once you get used to the action, it's hard to beat!

PS - The Xi 744 should be arriving in just a few days

I hope this helps

Hello and good evening! I just bought the Victorinox for $53 (includes shipping).:D I've carried a small swiss army in my pocket for many years and now a punch to boot! Who'd a thunk it! Thanks for the post on this!!! :D

You're welcome.

Being a knife user and collector, adding the SAK's didn't really require any real arm twisting.
And since I also enjoy useful gadgets, I figured I'd add the Xikar XI1 cutter that is on sale (today only) at half price at Cove Cutlery.

What the heck. Now I'll have an SAK with a punch, SAK with cigar scissors and a nice dual blade guillotine cutter. That should cover all the bases.
