I'm looking for a decent video editing program to edit some of the kids' baseball and dance escapades and some vacation stuff. Any suggestions for something that won't break the bank?

Looking for PC stuff, preferably Windows 7 64-bit compatible.

I hope this isn't for the footage you shot last weekend with Jon, Clint, and Matt. You promised those videos would never see the light of day.

Might give Nero a try. You can get a free trial from their web page.....:whistling:

Definitely curtains closed material. ???

I've been using Sony's Vegas Studio - great program that has tons of power, plus a DVD making (menus, burning disk, etc) program. Also available in a demo as well.

You can see some snippets of my videos HERE or join in my Self Important PIF :whistling:

edit to add: if its just simple editing you want, Microsoft's Movie Maker is pretty simple and easy to use, but somewhat limited

Seriously. We're all BOTLS here, but I will breach the perimeter and shave off your beard if those videos show up on pornhub. I don't care about how many hobo's feet I have to sacrifice to get in there.

I used to use Nero to burn CDs. Maybe I'll give it a try since the interface shouldn't be too unfamiliar.

I've looked at the Vegas Studio program. I've heard it's not all that intuitive, but maybe I'll give it a shot.

I've tried the Movie Maker program and I can't figure out how to do anything in that program efficiently. I don't need pro quality stuff. I'm just looking to edit some stuff with the kids for posterity.

Oh, and the KC stuff... :whistling:

Thanks for the input, gentlemen. Well, except for Brent, Matt, and Jon. :extended middle finger: :p

I have not personally used a lot of these, but I thought this reference might help. I agree, Windows Movie Maker is probably the worst piece of software ever made. I edit video professionally and I can't even figure out the simplest things in that program!

With that said, I hear good things about Sony Vegas. I've used Premier a lot, but there is a learning curve, and may be much more than you need for what you want to do. It's a shame there's no software that compares to the ease of use of iMovie on the MAC. At least none that I've seen yet.

I personally use Pro Show Gold, and it works great. The quality is excellent, and the software is really easy to use.

Thanks for that link, flamchop. I appreciate it. I've heard such great things about iMovie and I've seen some spectacular results in others' videos. I'm not buying a Mac just to edit some video, though.

I'll look into Pro Show Gold, Rod. Thanks for the help.
