Alright,
So for those of you who don't know, I live in cleveland, which is north of Chattanooga, and they have been doing road work, for going on three years. They finally opened up all four lanes, and so people don't do the posted 45 mph signs. Well, before it goes into a four, it's a two lane, and I was right behind a huge truck in the fast lane. Well he hits his breaks for no reason, and everyone starts passing me. Well after the cop FLIES by me, I jump in behind him. It's posted 45 and he's doing 60 while the others do 70 past the cop. Well when we hit 4 lanes, I slowly go by the cop. He gets on my @$$ and hits the blue lights. Man, I about shat my pants and pulled over onto the left side of the road where a huge cement wall is. So then the cop is telling me to come to his car and explain what the hell my problem is. I explain everyone else was speeding, and he said "You are some kind of f%cking idiot. You NEVER pass a marked car." I realize at this time, he has on no uniform, just a sweatshirt and jeans. HE'S OFF DUTY! At that point, I got rude. I said "Well, you sure didn't care when that S-10 was weaving in and out of lanes!". So he runs my liscence, gives it back, and says I need to "slow down" and stick on the right side of police officers, and gives me a warning. And makes me 30 more minutes late for work. I over slept this morning. Oh well. Jerk pigs, even though I'm going to school for Criminal Justice. :D

Sounds like you could use that Aristoff to unwind......

Sorry about the cop, man. Often I wonder if they just nab on a whim. I was stopped on Chrsitmas Eve on base for not slowing down fast enough - because it goes from 60 to 15 in about 300 yds (or less) for exiting the base and appearantly they thought I was approaching the gate too fast, even though I rolled through at 13, the cop made me pull over outside the gate. She was going to ticket me, but let me off because I was DD for a holiday party and she didn't want to "punish me for helping others."

I'll be the first to admit ALL cops aren't as nice as me! :whistling: There are some out there that are truly A-holes!!! I'll bet if you could go back and ask how long he's been on the force you'll find it's only been a short time! (couple of years)

That type of mentality erks me. If I'm rollin' down the road in my cruiser, lookin' for something, goin' slower than allowable, I WANT people to pass me. If not, you back traffic up for ever and INCREASE the chance for an accident.

Similarly, if I'm in my personal car and a cop is up in front of everyone, goin' slower than allowable, NO ONE FREAKIN' PASSES HIM, and it pisses me off. Three freakin' miles of traffic because no one would pass the cop!  Once I weaved my way through, I passed and he didn't do a thing.

Don't get me wrong, if ya blow by me and you're speedin' real fast, you gonna get some medicine! ;) Otherwise, drive carefully!

My .02 cents worth. Sorry for the hijack!

PS: I'm a city cop for 17 years. Don't do too much Interstate work (thank God!)

Everytime I've gotten a ticket for going over 90 (and there have been a few) the police were very friendly and even put away their guns once they found my USMC ID card. :)

You don't understand, this constrution stuff is hell, and he just scared the sh*t out of me when he flew up behind me. Jerk cop. I love alot of cops, because half of my family is in law enforcement, but some are really just jerks.

I have no problem passing marked or unmarked cop cars. I just don't fly past they doing 20MPH more then they are

Funny how the cop is a jerk for pulling over someone who was speeding regardless of what "everyone else" was doing. LOL!

I still remember my mom saying "So if everyone else jumps out of a 10 story window do you think its OK for you to?" ROFLMAO

......makes me 30 more minutes late for work.

I over slept this morning.

Just an observation? :whistling:

First of all when I'm off duty I don't stop cars for traffic violations unless they are life threatining. When I'm off work I prefer to keep it that way.

I would just like to say be careful in construction zones. I had a Trooper friend get killed in a construction zone a few years ago due to a speeding driver in a semi. He was struck in the rear and his car burst into flames. He was unable to get out and burned to death.

If I am going below the speed limit by all means pass me if you can do so safely. Just don't pass if I am doing the limit.

That sucks John, but just a word of advice from someone who used to work dispatch: Don't shoot your mouth off at a cop, no matter how big of an A-hole he is being, especially if you're down around the Fort O area. The cops I worked with loved to hook up smart-asses!

Eric

Oh yea, i didn't even address the construction zone thing. BAD NEWS!! In the construction zones, ALWAYS do the speed limit. Where people die, cops an't got no sense of humor.

Kenny....with my mom it was, "....jumped off a bridge, would YOU?!....." Ah, great parents!!! ;)
