What a great, hectic week

So a little background...This week I've take 2 midterms, and have two Finals tomorrow. Needless to say...4 exams in one week is a rough course load when they are all senior level classes. I've slept 10 cumulative hours since last friday night (about 2 hrs a day) and on top of the exams...had course registration.

For those that have been out of college physically (but maybe not mentally ) for some time, degree plans get longer and longer, and it becomes increasingly more difficult to plan it out, given that some Universities don't even offer the course your required to take during a semester where you have to take it.

Well, given the additional headache of dragging out all of my degree planning material, this week has been hectic to say the least. My degree plan is 128hrs, or practically 4.5 semesters. Well, I actually discovered something phenomenal, at least to me. Keeping in mind that I didn't do any honors or "concurrent" high school classes that transferred any credit out of high school, I've been busting my hump to graduate a semester earlier than my projected graduation date...which given the amount of hours...was actually two semesters early.

Turns out, with an extra course next semester, I'll be able to graduate a whole YEAR earlier than my projected grad date, and a year and a half ahead of the schedule for my required hours. Of course I'll have to take summer school to finish it up a little early, but the thought of getting through a University like Texas A&M a whole year early, while starting freshman year with 0 hours really made my gloomy week brighter, if only for a moment.

Going to be weird trying to enter the Labor force at the age of 21...but If I can conquer college in 3 years...who knows what'll happen!?! The thought got me really excited...all the planning ahead was well worth it. Sorry guys, I had to tell someone :) Time to smoke a special one.

stay in school for as long as your can and get the most education you can get. The younger you are with the most education the better you will position yourself. That is an awesome feat and I congratulate you. Does it stop there? masters? Ph D?

I happen to know a particular branch of the military that LOVES bright, young, year-early graduates. This branch also tends to make Officers of them and pay for the rest of their education to as high a level as desired. I ALSO know that this particular branch has, without doubt, the absolute sexiest toys imaginable....

I'll give you one guess.

*cough* Air Force *cough*

Give it a thought or two in your quiet time.

Full disclosure: not a recruiter (most of those guys are clowns), but I can surely answer real questions if you have any. I'm pretty sure you'd be blown away by some of our gadgets and abilities...

Yes, it does stop with a basic Undergrad. One of the costs to getting through quicker was to overload myself at some points, which didn't have a real positive impact on my grades or GPR. Frankly, I'm just happy to be on the home stretch.

I've weighed my options many times. In fact, I had a full-ride to four of the 5 academies to play football right out of high school. Air Force, Annapolis, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marine...apparently West Point didn't want me. Being an eagle scout, it was relatively easy for me to get a congressional appointment...and everything was pretty much ready to go. At 290lbs, playing O-line, I met all of the physical requirements (except weight...but would have been given a waiver for football). Low and behold...2 games left in my senior year, and I broke my tail bone in a dog pile by landing ass-down on a helmet, Tail bone pad didn't do it's job.

After that, I had to notify all the coaches and recruiters, after some long discussion...we decided it best if I just didn't risk another injury, since it could lead to paralysis, depending on the severity. After that...the military calls me all the time to do reserve programs while I'm in school. But my focus has been on getting out of school. Not to mention, being an X-offensive lineman, It's no secret that I'm still a large guy at over 300lbs and 6'2.5" The old injury, mixed with multiple hospital visits since then, one of which lasted over the whole winter break and Christmas last year, has pretty much deterred me from risking my health by doing something thats physically over-intensive like the military.

I respect all you guys do, hell, I was ( ) <--- That close to being in the thick and thin. I guess there was another plan for me however.
