Hey guys, I was recently gifted a Cohiba from a family member, and I forgot to ask for the specific name of the cigar. I'm a huge noob, so I have very limited knowledge of the different cigars Cohiba has. Here's a description: It is about 6.5" long and is large ring gauge size. It has the traditional Cohiba label and just below a separate label of a somewhat smaller size that reads "Edicion Limitada 2004". If anyone can help me out with some guesses as to what cigar this is, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot.

Sounds like the Cohiba Sublimes Edicion Limitada 2004 which is 6 2/5 inches in length and has a 54 ring gauge. Definitely a premium smoke. I had one last week (won't tell you how much I paid). It was good smoke with perfect burn, very rich and slightly sweeter than any other Cohiba's that I've smoked. Beautiful looking stick. Congrats...you'll definitely enjoy it.

I was going to trade away this cigar on another forum. Should I hold onto it instead, or could I get some nice cigars in return? I'm just worried that this thing might be a little strong for me at this point. I've been smoking for about a year and I prefer the smoother smokes.

If a family member gave it to you, they meant for you to enjoy it. Grab a drink, sit down, and enjoy - who knows when you'll another one :)
 
They are not overly strong. I think you would enjoy it more if you smoked it yourself.

They're actually quite mild if you ask me. If you're worried about the nicotine, smoke it slow on a full stomach.

Yep, you caught me! I just went through a fit of paranoia that this cigar was not a Sublime as someone told me before, and I didn't want to feel ignorant asking if it was for sure, after talking about the possibility of trading it away.

Are you the one who PM'ed me about it?

If so, I will talk to that dealer about the Opus X's.

Someone who I'm not 100% confident knows a Cuban cigar from a hole in the ground recently gifted me a RyJ Churchill tubo. I'm smoking it myself because (1) it was a gift and next time I see the guy and he asks me how I enjoyed it I'd feel a bit funny telling him I traded it for something else, and (2) if there's a chance it's a fake, I would feel a bit nervous about trading it: from what I've been told, if you're not 100% sure of the authenticity of a "Cuban" cigar, it's considered bad form to trade it or to drop it in to a pass.

If you are in chicago get together with some us BOTL and we can take a look at it and gaurantee it authenticity.. HEck Ill even smoke it for you to prove it authenticity..LOL!!

Is it safe to assume you are a whitesox fan?
 
I agree with you here. The reason I'm keeping it is that I would feel bad giving it away. I am pretty confident that it is an authentic Cuban, because it was from my dad, who knows his cigars very well.
