Just bought a Char-Broil H2O Charcoal smoker. Never used something of the like. Wondering what I should smoke.

Gonna be about 5-6 of us eating. Right now Im thinking Chicken legs and Ribs.

Any suggestions?

I love to smoke foods. Just ate a ton of ribs and brisket we smoked today. Are you going to use Hickory or Mesquite?

Well, I bought both hickory and mesquite to make sure I have the proper chips!

CC - Smoked my first cohiba today...Siglo I

Speaking of which...I have this medical test for life insurance on Wed. Do you think nicotine will show up in my system, if I some my last cigar for the week tomorrow.

Interesting question. If it does, just blame it on "second hand smoke" and swear up and down that you don't smoke yourself

As a former agent, I would not suggest lying about smoking. God forbid you pass away within the contestability period and they find out you lied on the application, they could refuse to pay and just refund your premiums to your family. If you take this medical test and they find you to be a smoker, once you submit the paperwork to the system, it will be on record at the Medical Information Bureau that you are a smoker. Insurance info-Yahoo

Now if you only smoke cigars, I believe there are companies out there that would still consider you a non-smoker, so might be wise to look into it before taking delivery of your policy.

I'm sure some of the legal types here will be able to chime in as well.

Good luck,

JV

Go with the ribs. Cooked right with dry rub they can't be beat.

We had a Blues Fest ad Bar-B-Que cooking contest in town this week. I did a walk through on duty Friday night and got to sample some trememdous Que.

Smoked salmon is always a winner.

BTW, I thought it took 30 days for the nicotine to clear from the system. I've had two different friends that were taking a physical for life insurance. Both quick smoking for a month to insure that the nicotine was out. Both passed, but were they every some cranky SOBs. :D

Interesting read...

I think I'll skip my Sunday BBQ smoke. I've always looked at it like this...the levels of nicotine that enter the system from smoking a cigar (not inhaling) have to be so minimum that it shouldn't matter. The reason I say this, is because if I were to smoke a cigarette instead of a cigar, I'd prolly fall flat on my face with a nicotine buzz.

So if some of the studies out there show that nicotine from a cigarette breaks down in 3 days...logically I would think that the nicotine in my system from a cigar would be so low that I shouldn't worry.

Either way, Ill stay clear. Altough I did have one last night, and friday for that matter!
