I somehow lost the first half of this so here it is again,

On January 15th 1983 David R. Jones decided not to go to his own record release party and to instead go see who he called his favorite singer, Anna Mae Bullock. So this gaggle of record executives and friends like Keith Richards all descend on the Ritz to watch the show. By the end of the night she had 7 recording contract offers and 2 years later the #1 album in the world.

On 1/15/83 David Bowie skipped the release party for his 15th and largest selling studio album "Let's Dance" to go see what he called his favorite singer, Tina Turner, at the Ritz clubs in NYC. Of the 7 contract offers she signed with Capitol Records and released Private Dancer 2 years later starting what may be the biggest comeback in rock/pop history.
