What SMOKING music are you listening to? (2026)

Good satire is hard to find.

How to write a progressive Rock Song. <-linky

If your IQ is under 130, or if you are unable to pretend that your IQ is not under 130, you should not even attempt writing Prog Rock. Progressive Rock is—to put it bluntly—for smart people. If you are not one of these smart people, you simply cannot make Progressive Rock music.

Cream - Wheels Of Fire (1968)

Cream's double album was half live with the 2nd record taken from live showsat the Fillmore East. With Toad taking up 16 minutes of side 4 it was basically a Ginger Baker drum solo for all 16 minutes with Eric and Jack stopping in for 2:30. I don't know if a longer drum solo has since been recorded.

What I do remember is that I had the COOLEST blacklight glow-in-the-dark pants I had bought in the Village just for the school dance where for whatever reason the DJ thought people wanted to hear all 16 minutes of Toad. Girls would dance thinking that something would happen besides drums. I proved 3 of them wrong. The pants didn't do well in the washer losing half of it's glow. I only wore them one more time.

I think we’re the youngest ones here…
