What SMOKING music are you listening to? (2026)

Considered as one of the finest examples of precision and accuracy in the guitar world, chances are you've never heard it

Saw him live recently. Only Satriani & Yngwie impressed me more technically speaking. There are some bonkers players out there under the radar though. The guys from Cynic & This Will Destroy You as examples. Seen them all up close and made me feel pretty bad about my guitar playing ability 😅

I've seen Yngwie a couple of times I'd place Steve and Eric Johnson above him technically but thats just opinion. Would have to see about 25 shows withh all of them to state as fact,

Eric Johnson is another of my favorites. Have seen him many times including a couple times up close. He’s up there for sure. As a guitar aficionado I’ve been very lucky (and at times a bit creative) to stand just a few feet away from most of my guitar heroes watching their magical playing. One of my favorite pastimes.

Dead Friday

Grateful Dead - Live/Dead (1969)

The definitive early Dead live album it is their first live and 4th overall record you could buy back then. Until the Dave's and Dick's Picks series came out it was the best early live album available.. The Dead have always been a live band and with around 300 CD's of official live music you have a wide variety of shows to choose from. And then you canget into the tapes which add about another 1000 shows from the bootlegs.

Remastered in the original order with new mixes in 2005 the live songs were taken from Feb 27 and March 2nd, 1969 shows at the Fillmore West which have since been released on the triple disc box set.
