Hi everyone, I have never smoked anything including cigars. so i thought I would give cigar smoking a try, because I have always liked the smell of cigar smoke. I just want to know what to expect. Please recommend a good begginer cigar. Thanks

The band or head goes by your mouth, the foot is what you light and is already clipped in the factory. ;) Like Leeroy697 said, start buying fivers of what you can afford and "good smoking"

First off please introduce yourself first in the proper forum, second try things that are close to your taste i.e. do you like flavored 'gars or more traditional, porper 'gars. As far as a noob taste goes we would need more of what you already somking, i think, to be able to point you into a better direction to try cigars with more taste. Oh yea, btw, Welcome to CP.

my apologies for not introducing myself, my name is Doug. Like I mentioned above I have never smoked anything including cigars. Anyway I think I might try a padron 1926 no.6, i've read a review on it. he described it as tasting like chocolate and fruity taste to it. What do you guys think about that? And Sam please forgive my ignorance but what would a traditional cigar and a porper cigar be.

As a relatively recent newbie, one cigar I can suggest you try a cigar that I still like, even as my tastes have changed: the Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Epicure Maduro. That cigar introduced me to the robusto size and to the maduro wrapper flavor. It's fairly mild/medium and is an enjoyable smoke. I recommend it for developing palates, particularly those that like chocolate flavors, as you say you do. Couple other suggestions include:

- Perdomo Lot 23
- Padron 2000 maduro
- Sancho Panza Double Maduro
- Macanudo Maduro

Welcome to the hobby. I hope you find some things to enjoy. I also recommend you check out the newbie sampler trade thread here on this forum. You will be set up with some great smokes to try from seasoned veterans, if you choose to partake.

I'm super new at this and I just keep trying new smokes. I keep a notebook that I put the bands in and give it my cheez ball rating so I know what I want to try again and what I want to skip.

thank you g-smoke what would be the price range of all the cigars you mentioned. thank you for your reply

Those should all be in the $4-5 range, at least online. Try getting 5-packs and you save a little more money.

Happy smoking.

I would say buy the book, before you buy the cigar. Basically, do a little research to get an idea of the most popular tobaccos, by country. Perhaps a good predominantly Dominican tobacco cigar, a Nice Nicaraguan Puro, and a Honduran Cigar. Maybe same tobaccos with Cameroon wrappers.
Get a feel for what Ligero is and if you like cigars loaded with it, or those who use enough to give the cigar a little oomph. Stay away from so called bargains containing a pile of second or third tier cigars.
Either way you go, have fun first, and learn to smoke slowly, and meditatively. Relaxing and savoring the cigar.
Welcome aboard.
