I endeavor to become more knowledgeable about cigars. This message board had taught me a great deal, but I'd like to read a book on the subject. I'd like to learn more about the manufacturing process from a plant in the ground to a stick in a box, and how various methods effect flavor.

I'm not looking for a pretty coffee table book necessarily, but rather the most comprehensive.

What books have you read on the subject and which would you recommend?

MRN's book is a great pictorial and text reference for ISOM's.

I would add Prelman's Pocket Cyclopedia of Cigars and the Ultimate Cigar Book as starting points.

Nice post Jaybay. I'll be keeping tabs on this thread myself!

A few I've read (one being very newbish, one being a bit less newbish)

Complete Idiot's guide to cigars
Cigar Aficionado's Cigar Companion

cA's is pretty interesting read, some good info on some very particular cigars (cannot trust the ratings necessarily however).

Hope this helps a bit.
