So I boxed up some smokes for a trade with ffopusxff and went down to the local post office on this very windy afternoon, and I go inside and the power is out. The gal behind the counter, who knows me real well from all the stuff I send out, says that a telephone pole with a large transformer behind the post office must have had a weak spot, and the wind knocked it down. Once it struck the ground it burst into flames, so the fire department and utility crews have been there all afternoon dealing with it.
So, no power means she can't print the postage label for my package and it can't go out today. Usually that wouldn't be a problem but because of hightened security they also print out a label for all packages handed over that declares that I'm a "known" customer and it doesn't contain anything it shouldn't. So I paid cash for the package, and she'll get it out tomorrow once the power is back on.
