We have a "What did you smoke today" and a "What did you drink today" thread, but I wanted to start one where you could tell us what beverage and what cigar you paired together. Everyone has different tastes in both and some might think "Damn, there's no way I'd try that!". This gives everyone a look into what you enjoyed together, how it paired, and how you enjoyed it. You can always throw out the " Padron 1926 Serie #35 maduro with black coffee" and that be the context of your post if you'd like, but I'd like to see a little more info on how you thought the cigar and beverage you chose, paired together. This way it gives people other ideas into new pairings they may have never tried if you hadn't shared your personal experiences.
So, without further ado, here's what I enjoyed tonight:
Tonight I paired a Padron 1926 Serie #2 maddie with a Highland Brewing Co. Oatmeal Porter. http://www.highlandbrewing.com/craft-brews
I normally don't drink a beer when I smoke a higher end Padron because I don't want the beer to overpower the cigar but this was a pretty good pairing. The Oatmeal Porter is a pretty "heavy" beer and you know how good '26's are. They complimented each other surprisingly well for me with both having big, full bodied tastes. The Oatmeal Porter had that burnt, hint of chocolate flavor while the Padron was a smooth, heavy billowing smoke, wonderful cigar. I think the beer was perfect with the maduro wrapper. It's something I'll revisit again soon.
