I was just wondering where people would like to see the next herf.

Hopfully next year we have a larger turnout than Vegas (eventhough it was probably one of the best times I have had)

These would be my preferences.

Florida (Southern)
Chicgo (Midwest)
Las Vegas (West)
Boston (East Coast)

I think Ybor city Florida would be an excellent place due to its rich roots in the Cigar industry.

Chicago would also be nice. Lots or things to do (SOX or CUBS GAMES) Nice places to herf, casino's, excellent restaurants great night life, Navy Pier, DITKA's..LOL!!

Vegas Well we all know how I luv Vegas they have everything.

Boston I hear has a nice nightlife scene and also lots of nice thing to do and see.

Boston since my client is down there and I might weasel a trip down to cooincide with the event. :)

Seattle of course!

edit to add: Maybe by then they will amend the no public smoking ban!

Hmmm, I didn't see Baghdad on the list.

Ok, I guess I'll have to go with Chicago then, since I'm a midwesterner at heart :)

Hopefully by next year you and your buddies will be back in the states safe and sound.

Some things we need to keep in mind are:

1.) Is there enough entertainment available to make the trip worthwhile and fun? Hosting the herf in a location which doesn't offer many things to do would not be good. Especially if people are driving a long distance or flying.

2.) Is airfare reasonable?

3.) Is there a good choice in lodging, and is it reasonable?

These are the three most important questions. Vegas offers all of the above.

I received several positive comments while in Vegas from some of the attendees who were very happy with Vegas, primarily because airfare was easy and reasonable, plenty of choices for lodging, the city provided a lot of free entertainment, and so on. Everything in Vegas is in a central location, the strip. You can even get free shuttle service up and down the strip (depending on where you stay).

Chicago and YBor sound like fun, but I do think we should consider the three questions above when considering a location. I know very little about Ybor City.

Nothing is "reasonable" from Boise. Farther East than Denver is worse...so not much choice from here :(

While I like the idea of moving it each year, I think Vegas or maybe Reno isn't a bad spot to call "home" for the CP Herf.

Boston................excellent for public transportation for all of east coast!
Great hotel rooms, night life, cigar stores, cigar lounges, and priceing in Boston on most things is decent.
A lot of history and sites in Boston.
I'd do my best to go since the wife wants to do the whole tourist thingy in Boston for a few days or a long weekend.

I dont mind Chicago either,I can take a train there as well....free since I used to work for Conrail.

The Tampa area has many things to do...sports, fun and sun...cigars!!!
All of these would require cars or a shuttle - not a taxi - due to the large area layout.

I would not recommend 'staying' in Ybor...rather...a couple shuttle trips and renting maybe most of a good restaurant for an evening.
Time of year is important sports wise...spring training rates are in-expensive!!!
I'm sure you would be able to pull in some great cigar sponsors for tours and events!

Tampa itself has some great museums and theaters.

If I were 'King'(ha!) and I were to choose that area...I would say book a hotel and/or hall in the Clearwater Beach area...and set up shuttle/bus trips to games or Ybor or Shopping...etc.
(Beside, I have a house 3 miles from Clearwater :D )

I probably wouldn't go to someplace like Vegas... I'd rather golf or swim/boat...etc. Oh yea...I could do that there too!!
Cost would be more than what I'd like...from what I've seen.

Then again - there could always be an International CP HERF.... anyone up for a boat ride! :D

Alex...could you make a 'POLL' out of this? or start a POLL? it may or may not influence the powers that be...ya never know!

I'd vote for the middle of the country, like Kansas City if I was voting. Why isn't this in the Herf's thread?

I do love Vegas.

And im sure with some extended planning for cigar related events and lots of time to get ppl locked in.

We would have a larger turnout!

Plus with 1 years notice IM SURE there are airfare deals to be had!

OK ROD start the planning committee!!!LOL!!

The T is a wicked awesome public transit system. Boston would be a real pissah! I'm 1hr. down the Pike, I would take my cah.

edit for spacing
edit again for another thought

Any chance of both East and West coast events like the TT folks do?
