My Brothers and Sisters...

I cannot encourage you enough to head to West Virginia and do a little Class V river rafting with North American River Rafters (NARR)! They have a hell of an operation and we had a great time! I met an old special forces guy there and we did an impromptu Gauley River Herf!

The water was cold, the rapids were rollin', and I was on a class V river getting tossed like a garden salad and loving every minute of it!

That's me and Steve - blissfully unaware of the next days events.

C&G... I survived the upper Gauley!

Sounds like a (gulp) good time. I've done a couple of trips on the Shehandoah (Class III & IV). I'm not sure that I'd want to take on a Class V.

I drive along the North Fork of the Payette River here in ID several times a year, and I just can't envision anyone making it down those rapids in one piece. Hell, I hate to drive along it in some spots, that's how crazy it is. I haven't read any stats, but from the news reports I see, it seems like 2-3 kayakers die on that river each year.

I'll take parachuting from a plane over a class V trip any day.

Trust me Bro, this is a definate "gotta do." The guides were good, the equipment sound, and there was even a little 18 year old girl in my boat - with her mother. (of course I had to use ear plugs - lots of "screaming.") ...oh...and this little girl was a base jumper...like her mom. LOL.

What? You should give it a pop! I mean.... hell, you got the "Double A"-All American patch on your shoulder.... a little water shouldn't scare a paratrooper like you! ...seriously, if you get the chance...give it a go.

PS... I was 1/504 PIR at one time...long long ago...

C&G... all the way airborne!
