I don't see how the home plate ump could even see if the ball was in the dirt or not, that is where he might need help from one of the other umps. In my un-biased opinion (Im a Brewers fan), it would be very hard for any of the other umps to get a clear view (distance etc). It was close on replay.

As for the ump calling him out, a strike call is the same as an out call, so it could very well have been him calling the pitch a strike.

I give credit to the batter for running to first.

Ump was consistent the entire game.


right hand out to the right meant no contact. which he did. than he did the third strike fist pump because it was a third strike. It was a heads up play by AJ to run to first. And it was a bonehead play by Josh not to tag the runner out or throw to first. If there is any doubt on a ball towards the ground you always play the fundamentals!
