Who knows anything about Bamburg

So, I just found out that when I leave Iraq I will be going to Warner Baracks in Bamburg Germany. With all the Military (current & former) I was wanting to kow if any of you guys/gals had ant intel on it.

Hell Tim no matter where in Germany all I'm gonna say is lots of FUN!!! I go almost every year for about 2 weeks to a conference in USEUCOM and station overthere also. It will be a great time for you and the family.

I can't specifically advise on Bamburg but my tour in Germany was the best of a 20-plus-year career.

I don't think you'd have any trouble visiting at all. I didn't see much of that attitude when I was there. Wurm may weigh in on this, but I think you'd be just like any other tourist.

Tim, PM me what specifics you want on the town. I'm going to have trouble with street names, but I can tell you a few places to visit. Warner Barracks itself is nothing to brag about, but it is smack dab in the middle of a fabulous German city and it's not touristy. You'll get to experience the real deal.

I feel like a scumbag, kinda, this is the first time in my military career that I have asked for special treatment. The Military Police Regimental Sergeant Major is my old Battalion and Brigade SGM from Ft. Bragg. I ran into him at BNCOC, and he ask me how I had been. He knew how much I deployed while at Bragg, and when I told him I was at Hood, he asked if I was ready for a break. After 10 years on the line and 47 months deployed since 2001, plus schools, and the 2 months I was deployed to Katrina, I am just tired, so I said HELL YES, and now this is where I am.

Tim I understand OPSEC, if you feel comfortable PM the gen loc your in and around what time you are popping-smoke. I was pulled into the Big Dawg Office today and give marching orders of a flash trip to IQ, AFG, KW and HOA. Sounded like it would be a 25-30 day freedom tour, maybe we can hook up.

Cool, sounds good. I have a local Iraq cell number, also DSN, and Secure VoiP, let me know as you get closer what your time frame is going to look like. I pretty much write my own schedule so I can be anywhere in the IZ when I need/want to be.

Someday I'll visit castles in Germany and hangglide all over Austria and ride my bike from beer garden to beer garden. Until then, what I can tell you is that I got a cigar from Wurm that was the store blend/brand from the Zechbauer store. I don't know where that is but I urge you to find one or three.

Tim, I spent 13 years in Germany at various Kasernes mostly in the Frankfurt area and on the French border and I'm sure that you'll find one or two great cigar shops right in Bamberg....... :thumbs:

shoot me a pm with questions and I will get the info you want I have friends in bamburg and am tied into military over here ptretty tight. Bamburg is about an hour from me when you get in I will give you my contact details and global E-mail. The area is nice near pottenstein wich is a beutiful rocky small mountainous area. there is also a castle there to bad you were not coming to Graf but I promise you that you will do training here.

As for Wurm being main guy in Germany Lech Mich auf Arse.
