The humi's getting full...I need more room, please advise!

<ok - I really am looking for one to replace the old tumbler that was in attached to the duct works - thakns!>

The tumbler style humidifiers are antiquated technology and should not be replaced with the same style. You should be able to find a good "water panel" type that would work with all existing wiring, etc. Next time you're at the house I'll show you what we did.
Having a father in law that owns a plumbing and HVAC company comes in handy!

So - since smokelaw1 bailed on me, I had to do some more looking into a home unit. Being the decisive type, I went with a Holmes HM3655-U portable unit for now.

First night in the house....what a difference. Less static, easier to breath...WoW!

I hope to look into the kind that attach to the HVAC duct work...but for $100....this worls great.

Put an AprilAire Model 400 on the furnace last year....Probably the best thing I've done (at least she thinks so...ahahhahaha) ,,,,,....One thing i did do additionally is have someone comeout and clean & sanitize the ductwork. House was built in the late 50's and I doubt the ducts were ever cleaned (you should have seen the nasties that came out of there..YUCK). Sandy(mrs) is very sensetive to dust...so with the addition of the humdifier, the duct work cleaning, and one of the high end 3M furnace filters...she has no issues with the forced hot air now...House is around 1500Sq Ranch and I can easily crank up the RH so theres dew on the windows...So this thing works well..really well

I really can't say enough good things about Aprilaire..awesome unit...

You know... everytime I see this thread title in the forum, coupled with the person who started the thread, I read it as "Whore House Humidifier". I stop and read it again every single time. At first I laugh. And then I'm sad that Gary didn't start a thread about humidifying a whore house.
