Who's been listening to the History of Stern?...

Damn ...... we need to all be sitting in my backyard smoking cigars and drinking too much about right now. I've got some Reel Big Fish playing in the background.

LOL .... One Step Beyond, damn!!

Rude Boy!

That'd be awesome brother.

Out of bed at eight AM
Out my head by half past ten
Out with mates and dates and friends
That's what I do at weekends

I can't talk and I can't walk
But I know where I'm going to go
I'm going watch my money go
At the Locarno

When my feet go through the door
I know what my right arm is for
Buy a drink and pull a chair
Up to the edge of the dance floor

Bouncers bouncing through the night
Trying to stop or start a fight
I sit and watch the flashing lights
Moving legs in footless tights

I like to venture into town
I like to get a few drinks down
The floor gets packed the bar gets full
I don't like life when things get dull

The hen party have saved the night
And freed themselves from drunken stags
Having fun and dancing
In a circle round their leather bags

But two o'clock has come again
It's time to leave this paradise
Hope the chip shop isn't closed
Cos' their pies are really nice

I'll eat in the taxi queue
Standing in someone else's spew
Wish I had lipstick on my shirt
Instead of piss stains on my shoes ...

You were on the front end of some pretty cool stuff.

I worked in a Cupertino bike shop with a trumpet player that got me into SP & LGB back in '92 i think it was. One of the best musical discoveries for me. This intro carried me backwards towards the Skatalites and forward towards No Doubt and Sublime. Before this, I was fairly closed off with my music choices sticking very close to punk. Eye opening to say the least and I am very grateful for it!

I think at that point in my life, every penny I earned went to gas and Streetlight.

Small world. I used to live at Streetlight and Tower. Back then, Streetlight was in this little sh*thole of a house on the other side of 280 - kind of katty corner from the old porno house, Burbank Theater (Pink Poodle was down the street - but something about catching those 16 and 35mm pornos on a big screen was better than the Poodle...and cheaper). But Streetlight then was small, small. I remember when they moved to their current location - just thought, wow...so much time can be spent in there. Lol. I used to know almost all the old guys who worked there, then met up with this great rockabilly chick that used to work there.

But yeah...I guess those third wave bands really got people into the truly great stuff. And, for that, they almost served a higher purpose. I certainly enjoyed the shows we did with them - getting to meet some of those greats (like Roland, Lester and Tommy) - and even play with them - was among some the finest memories I have. When Special Beat and Bad Manners came to town, some fiasco ended up happening with their lodgings, so they ended up crashing at Park's parent's house. Buster Bloodvessel stipped down to his BVDs and was running around like a damn madman - something that Park's parents were thankfully appreciative of rather than uptight. It was awesome.

I still have some of the really old tapes and some shows taped and, hearing it now, really takes me back.

Oh yes, burbank and the poodle. It looks like they have come up in the world. Speaking of which, I could have sworn that I saw David's car parked out front last time I was cruising down Bascom.

LOL!! The Poodle, The Burbank and there was also one on the Alameda back in the day as well.

Damn, Streetlight was in a small little place back then, we had Star Records in our neck of the woods.

I mentioned somewhere else here once before that I used to go to Star Records out there. Back in the day, they had this tiny little import section in the very far back, left corner of the shop.

I went to that one on the Alameda David!! Bunch of friends and I went there to see this porno flick called "M-3D." I had the idea to carry in squirt guns filled with Ivory liquid soap. During certain parts, I would let those rip. Made for an interesting crowd! Probably get arrested for that these days.

I think the Burbank shut down ages ago.

Was reminded the other day of another place we used to hit in the Pruneyard - The Garrett. Is that place still around? Haven't really been to the new-and-improved Pruneyard since all the (drastic) reonovations, but had heard The Garret closed down in the early 90s or so. That place used to be haven for us so long ago.

The Garrett is still there from what I understand.

Your not going to believe this ..... but we saw that same 3D porno with a bunch of friends back then as well, we thought it would be funny to see a 3D porno. From what I remember it was not a pleasant experience at all  .

Such a small world. And, nope, it wasn't at all a good movie.

That was you!

You owe me $20 for a new tshirt. We can stop by Paramount and pick it up next time you are in town. :sign:

I think I am still suffering the ill effects of ink poisoning from reading Maximum RockNRoll.

Anyways, back to reality.
