Whump!

I hear the whistle as it is dropped from the sky..... Where it hits, nobody knows.... time will tell!!!

Nice work jbohlke !!!

Still trying to figure out why people feel the need to advertise when they send out a bomb. If you are doing it for recognition, you aren't doing it for the right reason...

Because its fun. :D And a little more dramatic that way. I very much doubt anyone is trying to be recognized from a few bombs.Just trying to make a noob or fellow botl have a good day when they pic up the mail is all. Besides Jgoh is not like that.

Yeah, don't misunderstand me. I'm not saying he is like that - it was a general statement. I've seen a lot of "Bombs Away" threads recently and still wonder why there is a need to advertise it. As you said, a noob or fellow BOTL will have a good day when they pick up the mail regardless of whether a DC# was posted or not.

Personally, I think it's more fun to not post anything and have it be a total surprise. It's up to the receiver whether they want to make it public or not. I know there are A LOT of people here who send out bombs and never post about it and never care whether they are acknowledged.

Just my opinion, carry on....

For the record, CigarPass once had a forum dedicated to bombing and backslappin'..

Archived CigarPass Link

...but it was removed when it was decided that it wasn't in the true spirit of the brotherhood. Something to keep in mind. ;)

I doubt very many people look up and track the DC's that are posted for bombs but that's just my opinion.

Thank you - that's my point.

They can't track them, so why post them? Again, that's my point. By posting a DC#, in my opinion, it's a "look at me I sent a bomb". Why else would one post a DC#? Get everyone in a tizzy that it might come to them? Sorry, I don't get it...

I recently posted a DC# on a sent bomb in the NooBs vs. NewBs thread because I thought it was in the spirit of the thread. Kind of a war analogy thing.
If bombing someone in the spirit of brotherhood (not saying that that isn't) and not their participation in that paticular thread, then I would not post anything.

I may be way off base here though, what do you think Jim?

I personally think that he who sends the bomb should do as he sees fit. If they want to advertise it or talk about it... fine... If they want to make it a surprise... fine too. It is this person in fact who is taking the time, effort and money to send the bomb so it should be up to the individual.

So in a nutshell.. I don't think there is a rigth or wrong way. My .02 worth.

That's different as I believe in that thread it is requested that you post DC#s. When I posted "Fuggin' Newbs" in that thread I was playing around ala Neal (SamClemmons).

Read through all the "Thank you" type threads after people received bombs here in the Lobby. None of the people who sent the bomb posted DC#s, say they sent a bomb, nor did they ask for recognition. The public thank you was the doing of the receiver and unnecessary as the "bomber" likely did not send it to get public recognition.

That's true. I'm simply saying I don't agree with it (posting a DC# and announcing it) and I think it is not in the "spirit" of sending a bomb. As I said before, it's just my opinion. Carry on.

Head's up, apprently there is a bomb on the way to someone...

Well I do have to agree that I don't understand the DC#.... It is not like you can tell where it is headed to.

I personally know as a noob, that when I see one of those, I personally get a little anxious thinking I may finally be the recepient of a bomb... not that I have ever asked for one, but I do think, hey this one could be headed for me.

But there again... he took the time to do it and spent the money on the smokes and shipping so who is one to argue.

Okay I am with you on this, I had never seen DC# posted outside that thread.

And I do have to say... Thumbs Up jgohlke... Do your thing your way... just because others don't agree doesn't mean it is wrong... What is good for you may or may not be good for jingles... and what is good for jingles may or may not be good for me... and so on. We are all our own people and we can do as we wish, that is what makes this America!!! We should be fortunate that we have such a brotherhood here that we can even enjoy such a thing.

OK... I am off my pedistal now.

Edited for spelling once again.

I see your point Jim however some threads actually have called for posting DC's such as the east VS West Noob war. It was a great way to keep track of how many bombs were sent each way.

Just in case anyone doesn't remember the East Coast lost Big time to the west coast.

As far as posting bomb threads, some folks haven't been around as long and maybe it makes them feel more like part of the team to post the DC. Sometimes you have to put yourself in the other guys shoes.

Flame On

Never knowing a "bomb" is coming in the mail is almost like getting a package at Christmas that is something you have been wanting or didn't realize you wanted till you got the chance to have it. To top that off you got it from someone you would never have expected to get it from which makes it even better because someone thought about you.

It's my first flame thread! I'll finally get to do some serious post padding!

I posted for a couple of reasons, the two main ones are:
1. It's fun.
2. I need the post count!

Seriously, I was just goofing around, thought it was fun. I haven't had the inventory to really bomb anybody up to now...an opportunity came up and I took advantage.

I thought the "artillary barrage" slant was kind of fun. I do have a few more unexpended rounds. I had some ideas about where to take this thread, but maybe stealth mode is just as fun. I guess that's all I'll say about that!

No offense meant, none taken.

cheers,
Joe
