Big bummer...my wife went through the gall bladder thing about 10 years ago. She was diagnosed (finally) by an ER physician. A couple of weeks later she had it removed and has been fine ever since. No issues.
During the period between diagnosis and surgery, she ate very, very carefully and was able to control the symptons by diet.
After she had her surgery, the doctor gave her a small bottle with all her gallstones. A year or two later, our daughter took them to school for science class and the teacher asked to keep them. As far as we know, they are still there...
