Newbie here, thinking out loud. I have two cheap desktop humidors and they are at capacity, so I want to step up to a larger capacity and probably replace these boxes (they are 50'ish cigars sized) They work great, just want more room so I can collect more sticks when the mood or sale strikes me.
So I was thinking about getting a wine cooler and making my own with Forrest inserts, then I found a CC-300 on sale, ready to go for $300 shipped, good deal. I'm a budget minded person, so I try save everywhere I can, and I really had my heart set on keeping it in this price range if possible.
I nice cabinet would be my preference, but for a good one they are really expensive. Then I noticed Forrest has a cabinet offering that starts at $400 for the 2 drawer model. So now I'm leaning that direction, for a couple hundred more I can have a nice looking well made very functional humidor, rather then an industrial looking thing in my office.
The more I think about it, the less I think I should get the cooler type. I really don't need it. In fact I was looking on Craigslist for a dead one on the cheap, just for the cabinet not the cooling. But aesthetically a nice wood cabinet is still my choice. I keep my humidors in a temperature controlled home with very stable temps, and I haven't needed cooling with my desktops, so the same should hold true for a larger cabinet.
Has anyone here purchased Forrest's cabinet humidors? I'm looking for some feedback on how you like it?
Or does someone have other opinions the subject they would like to offer? For now and the foreseeable future I *think* this is a good size for me, and I have just enough room for it in my home office.
