While in a cigar shop with a couple of BOTL's. The quality of metal used to make the cutter and its origin was brought up. One said Xikar's used to be made with German metal. The other said they now use metal from China. The latter would definetly effect the quality of the metal. My question is: Where does Xikar get its metal from?

I do not know where the steel is from, but I own two cutters and have used them exclusively over the last 8 months with no problem. That does not mean that there is no problem, but I enoy them and they cut very well.

The cutters are made in Germany, but I can't find any specific information on where the steel comes from. Could be from China and then manufactured in Germany, who the hell knows?

Mark from Cigarmony, any thoughts?

It is my understanding that they used to be made in Germany but now are not. What I do know is that they seem to remain to the same quality standard and have an unconditional lifetime warranty

Hope this helps

It doesn't matter where the steel is made. It's the hardness of the steel that counts.

Doc.

You know, when I started typing I had that thought in my head and once I started I couldn't remember what my key point was going to be.

Thanks Doc
