Got the humidor going in the 'seasoning' process. Calibrating the digital hygrometer, but like a knuckle head I ordered cigars with the other goodies and am now wondering what to do with them for the next few days while the Humidor is being set up?

Short of smoking all of them (I bought a 20 cigar sampler) I need advice on where to store them so as not to ruin them.

I was unclear on what keywords to use in the search tool so forgive me if this has been covered ad naseum as I'm sure it has. :whistling:

TUPPERWARE!!!!! :D

Just toss em' in with a Boveda Packet, or a puck humidification device, and you're good to go.

Hi, and welcome to Cigar Pass. Don't forget to introduce yourself so we know more about ya. ;)

For short periods of time, you don't need a humdification unit of any kind, just put them in a tupperware container or similar food storage container, or double or triple Ziploc baggies are fine, too.

Thanks folks! went str8 to Wallmart and bout a rubbermaid container. am going to open up one of the *ducks* 'Thompson's' Crystal Humi jars I got and put it in with the cigars to make sure they stay nice while the humidor is getting ready.

Appreciate the quick feed back!

What is needed if anything to prep the tupperware before putting the sticks in?

Take out any leftovers before using...
Wash thoroughly.
Make sure there is no residual smell.
If there is still a smell try white vinegar or a baking soda/water solution.
Air dry.
Re-check for smell.
If smell is still there wash and try a very light bleach solution.
Once smell is gone throw sticks in with humidification.

If that doesn't work...
Send your sticks to me.

Thanks for the reply's, but do I really have to take the Porterhouse out of the tupperware before putting the cigars in? ;)

Not if you wish to infuse it with that "meaty" character that is so often used to describe cigars. Just make sure you watch out for maggots after a while.
