But you have to admit they have a D * M N fine cataloge :p

See you all later, its time to go to my throne and peruse the one I received in the mail today. :sign:

I remember when I first started smoking, I sent off for one of those cigar samplers in a magazine sponsered by Thompson's.

I later learned that their mark-up is pretty high as compared to most retailers and they hound the hell out of you to buy more.

Wurm - absolutely, it is a great catalog. Too bad what's in it isn't worth a damn or anything that is, is OVER priced as heck.

Leebo - yeah, me too. I started with Thompson and actually thought their prices were good. Then I began to develop some cigar acumen and later laughed at myself for how naiive I was. In my opinion, they blow and I'll never order from them ever again. Huh, that sounded a little harsh... oh well :whistling:

Supposedly they have some house brands that are pretty good. I had a few a while back, dont remember names at all, that I enjoyed at the time. I may try one of the Thompson samplers, but their prices are pretty high for non-Thompson brand cigars

Nice catalog but I have been disappointed with the prices and selection. Thats just me personally though. :)

Greetings! Yes, with the exception of some of their Thompson Exclusives, Thompson's cigar prices are on a par with neighborhood cigar shops. I plan on ordering one of their Thompson Exclusives: Pinata Cubana (Honduras) Maduro Torpedo. I believe that this cigar will prove to be a good cigar for the money. The Thompson Cigar Company has a reputation for providing quality humidors and accessories at good prices. Hey, enjoy your weekend, everyone! Regards, knightlaird

I've never spent a dime with Thompson's, yet the catalogs keep coming. The best parts of the catalog are the breathless, overcaffinated item descriptions:

Wear your stylish and distinctive Thompson Logo Jacket wherever you go and wherever you meet fellow Thompson customers, give 'em the secret handshake and a high-five and enjoy your Thompson puros together.

Uh-huh.

And the classic:

Act now to avoid disappointment. (Thompson Iguana.)

And of course, the never-ending supply of "the world's hardest-to-find cigar"--the Patragas 150's at $788/box 25.

And yes, the cheap paper stock is a pretty good substitute for TP, in a pinch. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, though--they've never tried calling me for the "Cigar Club".

....I bought some Padron Fumas' from Thompson's at a decent price, and that wasn't too bad, but the THREE (yes, three) phone calls afterward trying to get me to join their stupid "buyers club" pissed me off so bad I won't even read the catalogs in the crapper anymore....

The recycle bin is between the mailbox and my back door. Guess how far their catalogs make it....??

Regards - B.B.S.

Guys just to give you a FYI... regardless of Thompson's inflated prices (And the only cigars I've ever gotten from them were the 100 free ones that came with my Barrel Humidor)

They are still close to 20% cheaper than anything the Germans can buy.

One must learn to count his blessings as he receives them ;)

And I like the thompson cataloge just for the reason most of you have mentioned.

1) I love the fantasy write-ups of their house brands. And some of the pictures are just plain drool worthy.

2) It gives me a price to use as a reference for when I go looking for better deals online.

And I have to say, my barrel humidor really is nice, maybe I got lucky and the chinese guy who made it was having a good day, but it seals tighter than a coffin, and holds the humidity like a champ. I've also seen the very same humidor on sale at alot of other online vendors for over 200 dollars and considering it came with 100 "dog-rockets" for 129 bucks I can't complain.

Hi, Wurm! Yes, I agree with you 100%. In my opinion, the Thompson Cigar Company, like other cigar merchants, is sometimes given a "bad rap" undeservedly. Speaking of cigar catalogs, Wurm, I hope that you will soon receive your copy of the JR Cigars catalog. Lew Rothman's comments in the JR Cigars catalog are often very amusing and hilarious! If you have not already done so, I suggest that you request your FREE copy of the JR Cigars catalog. Please go to http://www.jrcigars.com Have a good one, Wurm! Regards, knightlaird

I like cigar catalogs in general. Fun to browse through while waiting for something. :whistling: That said, I'd rather smoke horse turds than 3/4 of the crap they peddle in thompsons catalog.

I too enjoy reading JR's. Not that I order from them very much, but Lew has a style writing that makes me laugh. First time I ever read a cigar seller openly try to sell something by calling it "****." Lew did when he was trying to sell some crappy flavored cigars a while back

to bad Habanos S.A. doesn't come out with a catalog with monthly specials in it....
