Total Recall. The scene in the MARS airport when Schwarzenegger is disguised as the old lady is great. And the 3rd boob!!! Now that was special effects.

This is not a movie but a telvision series but they practically reinvented special effects. Babylon 5

I just watched the first 3 seasons. If I remember correctly, it was on at around the same time as ST-TNG and ST-DS9 - both had far better effects (everything was 2-D looking computer graphics with a huge amount of pixelation). Writting was pretty darn good though.

Forgot to mention Dune, that was another great flick. Stargate was also pretty cool.
