Scotch w/ Padron 45's?

Piggy-backing on Jepe's Cigar Lounge post asking for cigar suggestions for his Father's anniversary here...

I'm getting married in December and thought it would be fun to give a reverse dowry to my future father in law. He's a huge scotch fan and an occasional cigar smoker, so I couldn't think of anything better to give him than booze and smokes, and the Padron 45 idea sounded great to me. Now for the next question... what Scotch to pair it with? It needs to be something as special as the Padron's, but not as predictable as Blue Label. Any ideas?

Do you have any idea what kind of scotch he likes? Islands, Islay, Highlands, Lowlands, Speyside?
Should we assume the price for Johnnie Walker Blue Label is at the top of your range?
 
There's SO many choices out there, but of what's likely to be readily available---a nice Macallan 18 or Cask Strength, or Glenmorangie Astar or 18, or Dalmore Gran Reserva 15, or the newish Balvenie Madeira 17, would all be "special bottles" enough to go well with the gift . . . and with smoking it.

I would think you can't go wrong with Balvenie 21 Port wood!
If you are smoking the maduros it will provide complementary flavors, the naturals would provide a little more contrasting flavors.

The only thing I know about his Scotch taste is that he likes Johnny Blue when he's out and drinks Black at home pretty regularly. I think he's probably more of a blended Scotch fan for general drinking, but he definitely enjoys having a special occassion drink and cigar. As for price range... less than $200 would be nice, but if there's a truly good scotch that would pair well for a little more I'd go for it. My plan is to smoke/drink with him on our anniversary as a tradition, so I'll be getting my money's worth!

I was looking at the Balvenie 17 year last night on the Bevmo website, but didn't see the 21. I'll have to look in to that one along with all the other suggestions and any others that come in. I'll let you know what I go with!

Thanks Doc but here is one that I haven't reviewed. Talisker puts the bite in JWB and the 25 certainly goes with a Padron Maduro. Look here.

I'm on day two of my Scotch education courtesy of your thread over there. All I can say is "WOW!" What a resource you've given us. I'm sure you've been told this many times but, thanks! I've never been one to go against the experts so I'm getting the Talisker 25.

All this talk of Scotch is making me thirsty! I'm in Iraq, so I'll have to settle for some near beer with my Fuente's instead.
