Well as most can see i am new to the game. I am looking for some feed back on the humidor i purchased. I have done quite a bit of reading and only see a few post regarding the place i bought from. Seeing i am new to the game and wish i would have found this Gem of Knowledge before i bought t so i could get opinions before making a purchase. I had some worries due to how the sight was set up and responded. Didn't find it real easy to navigate. But live and learn I guess hopefully i did well and i will be satisfied.
Here is what i purchased.:

Thanks

Looks good! Thats for sure. What you should worry most about is the seal! It has no glass so you wont need to worry that much about temperature since wood is a much better insulator than glass haha

You can do the "woosh" or dollar bill test when you get it to check on the seal. If not, you didnt spend that much right?

Looks great though.

Look around here for how to season, and don't try to rush it. Think beads, and start it with a Boveda seasoning pack (you will probably need two). Then enjoy your gars and place the next order for your next humi.

I am in the midst of reading it. I have the Hygrometer salt test going now, nice thing is it is adjustable. I do have a question though. The rectangular humidifier came with the green floral foam, should i use it or replace it with something better? It passed the swoosh test, gonna do the bill test here after reading. Bead huh? what is so great about them? Another humi..the "Fun Filter" has a qty block. If i pushed it she'd tighten the grip on funds.

The arrival!

If you can find yourself a small piece of nylon mesh, toss the green foam piece in the garbage, and fill the black piece with the beads. Put the mesh along the inside of the lid, and seal it. This way, the beads stay inside.

It does have a piece of silky or whatever type mesh i would suppose to keep the foam foam from dropping stuff in the box.

Man, delivered in less than 5hrs? What awesome service. :D From the link, it looks as though it comes with an analogue hygro. While calibrating it will help, they are usually less than dependable. You may want to look into getting a digital hygro that is adjustable. Silica beads are a popular choice around here. There are several different varieties and some people even use silica kitty litter and have had success with it. Heartfelt Industries has just about everything you need to get a humi up and running.

Thanks for the info! hahah i ordered it last Saturday so it has i have been anxiously awaiting for it so i can get to ordering some sticks! As of right now, 3hrs into the salt test it is at 77%-78%. I seen someone mention the use of a wireless to minimize the amount of opens which i'm considering one down the road. Silica beads sounds like the way to go. Should i have them in there during the seasoning? Or should i wait til the shot glass is empty?

What what great people around here!

Everyone's help is greatly appreciated!

Put the beads in after everything is seasoned. I have the exact same humidor. What I did was take the foam out, rinse everything out with rubbing alcohol, let it dry. I got two of those disposable socks from a shoe store, and put the beads in there after rinsing them out with rubbing alcohol and letting it dry. (Make sure it's completely dry). Keeping the wire mesh, I put the contraption back together.
(This is sort of similar as to what was mentioned above)

Note: Because the humidification device will be a lot heavier than originally intended, the adhesive magnetic strips will have to be reinforced, as they will detach from either the rectangular device or the wood. What I did was to use super glue (sparingly), and make sure everything dried out for a day or so.

Heartfeltindustries.com, I suggest 65% humidity beads.. Just my humble opinion.. I cut up a stocking and melted the ends together, worked real well. Don't worry about the wireless hygrometer, worthless for what you have.. By opening it up your not going to do any damage.. For a good hygrometer I always use caliber III.. Work perfect..

Don't do the wireless thing, just get one of the digital hygrometers from the store here on CP.
For the beads, I use Heartfelt. Instead of using nylon stockings, I just cut the bottoms off a couple regular water bottles and use them as a holder for the beads. (If you want pics I will provide some) You don't need to keep them in your humi when you season it, just add them after the seasoning is complete.

For the shot glass, I am guessing you are talking about the one filled with distilled water. Just leave it in the humi until you have a steady RH of 70ish for a few (3 or 4) days. Then pull the shot glass out and make sure that the RH is stable for a day or so. Then add the beads and you sticks.

I have a Cuban Crafters Humidor and have been very happy with it for 4-5 years. I have the one in the photo above yours in their banner.

Nice looking desktop man. you're sure to out grow it FAST if you stick around on this forum.

I'm gonna look into the beads. I have someone on here you made me a offer for some for $30. I think im gonna stick with the hygrometer it came with as it seems to be doing ok for now.

Nice! Not if the "Fun Filter" has a say though.

I do have a few questions though. I checked it when it was a full 24hrs to see if the glass need to be refilled Now the glass is still full and looks unchanged. Good or bad? The hygrometer reads 72% (has been salt tested and calibrated also). Now i also put one Boveda 84% pack in, is this gonna have a adverse affect on anything?

Looking good your on your way to a coolidor .... Beads are a must makes life alot easier.

Oh boy a coolidor! hahaha My 'Fun Filter" would filter me right out to he dog house. But i do have a 20 cigar sampler coming which i don't dont have real high expectation for what i paid. Won it through Thompson auction for $24 list was $45 so we'll see what it entails. Unfortunately it was before i found the Newb Sampler thread, that will be next months adventure for me

OOOH Thompson um yeah, you might want to do a search here about them......

Don't worry you will be fine.

Well it's been at a steady 72%. I think I am ready to rock & roll! now it's time to fill it up. Thanks for all the help it is greatly appreciated & I hope to be able help the next newb down the line as well as you guys helped me.

Not sure what's goin on but the floral foam has to go added 20 stick thinking they help bring the humidity down cause they where dry. But it went up from 7r% to 78%. Working getting a set of heartfelt beads but I am gonna remove the fom and use pillows for now until the beads show up.

The fun is just starting. The Thompson stuff will leave you with a questionable taste in your mouth. Find a B&M, look for Padron and Fuente to start. The gang here will keep you more than busy with suggestions, and of course, you might plan on getting your next hum.
