Who's Bracing for Irene?

You can feel the wind starting to pick up here in NEPA. We are supposed to get some wind and maybe 7 inches of rain.

Good luck to all of those who are really doing to get hit with it.

The 12th hole it started to pour, so I wimped out and left the course. Stopped raining 5- 10 minutes later and I'm at home. Crap.- Love the new clubs! thanks Jeff.

Just talked to the Marine (Camp Legeune, NC). Lots of wind, lots of rain, no power for about ten hours....but that's about it. He's fine and the worst is past.

...whew..!!

The freakin hurricane is 500 miles away and our power has gone out twice already!

It looks like it's going to hit land right at our area tomorrow. Here is the Hurricane Tracker we are using...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26295161/ns/weather/t/hurricane-tracker/#.Tlk7rqhIeuI

If you enlarge the map and follow the white line of how they think the storm will track, it hits land right in our vicinity! We live right in between Atlantic City and Lakewood on that map. At this point you can see the bands as they blow through. One minute it's pouring and the next minute it's calm and hardly raining.

Yard is picked up.
Coffee in the pot.
Half and half in the fridge(ice ready if needed).
Bag-O Hostess Donettes.
98 Lusi...just in case!

Have to dodge the rain drops to take out the dog when needed.

Good plan, Gary!

Stay safe, looks like she's coming right your way.

Hope everyone stays safe. After the earthquake and now hurricane, I guess you east coasters can start gearing up for the locusts, next...

We made it in pretty good shape. First off, the party went well, I cracked open more bottles of scotch than I can remember! Of all of them, the Monkey Shoulder is now new favorite scotch!

The hurricane hit land just a little South of us in Little Egg Harbor and it whacked the hell out of any surface facing the water. It raged against the back of our house all night long to the point you couldn't sleep..and if this was only a Cat 1 storm, I can only imagine what folks go through when these things are stronger. The power went out just as the Emergency Broadcast System blasted that loud announcement (we normally hear only as a test) over the TV that a tornado touched down 15 miles South of us. That sound scared the sh*t outa me as we watched the news reports that followed the storm....then BOOM, off goes everything!

The storm is one thing and we got through it OK...but I have a new respect for the term 'Storm Surge'. After the storm was over and went North, the bay & lagoons started to go over their limits ( high tide + full moon + storm surge) and all the storm drains that normally drain INTO these places started to fill the streets with water! Here it was with the storm having passed...then hours later the road in front of our house was under 2 feet of water as the sun was starting to come out! It was creeping closer by the minute...you could see the water line moving right in front of you. Just as it was headed towards my garage and making life totally miserable, it stopped about 2 feet short....and just as fast as it arrived, the tide turned (no pun intended) and receded. All that water that filled the roads and turned our lawns into swamps was GONE in 2 hours draining back into the lagoons and bay! This has now repeated twice since....creeping closer each time to our garage because of the delay in the real storm surge getting to us.

The cleanup was easy, by the time the hurricane's backside winds hit us...that wind blew everything away...shredded leaves, small tree branches, flowers...all gone!

It's been tough to sleep as you try to keep an eye on the flooding with the tides changing...but things should get back to normal within a few days. All things considered, we really dodged the bullet.

I have a renewed respect for Mother Nature for sure.

You and Gary had the correct response. Assume the predictions are bull and have some fun!

We made it through pretty much unscathed. The ground floor flooded pretty bad, but it always does so there really isn't anything down there that can't get wet. Did burn out my pump though, which pissed me off mightily. Stupid thing wasn't even a year old yet. We were without power most of Sunday but it came back just in time to clean up some and get ready for the work week,

House and family made it through unscathed. We've been without power since Sunday at 9 AM. No clue when that's coming back since over half a million are without power here on Long Island and LIPA isn't giving restoration estimates.

Power out since 7am Sunday.

Celebrated with a 98 RyJ Churchill a 98 Party SDC. (Thank you!!!)

Power may be out until Wednesday.
My brother will be dropping off his generator (as he has power)..but still may have to cook a lot of food tonigt...we'll see.

I've gotten more intese blow jobs in turkey bars. Didn't amount to a piss whole in the snow.

Doc.
