Positive cash is always a good thing. For some of us, we often may become complacent in the everyday things around us. I found away (not new for some of us) to get more cigars per month without hitting the “house fund” .The economy has been rough and for some, too rough. Some may go without essentials. So where we can save, we should save. He was “my way” to get “extra stick money”.
I started with my cable bill. I was paying $182.00 a month. Of course, I was hypnotized by the “all in one” thing. You know, phone, cable and broadband. So, I called them and asked if they could reduce my bill. Out of the gate they would drop my bill by $20.00. I’m thinking, not bad a couple extra sticks. But that wasn’t enough. So, I asked if they could do better. The answer was no. So, here was the ending.
I dropped the phone $41.66 a month.
Next, I dropped my cable TV $86.34 a month.
That left me with just the broadband bill of $54.00.
I then called direct TV (which I already had in the SAC for the NFL Ticket) and got a choice package. They give me $267.00 of credit! My new TV bill is now $34.99 a month, with more HD channels. I then went and got the Magic Jack and plugged it in. Five years for $60.00 or $19.00 a year. Basically, free phone service after the onetime payment of $60.00.
I then returned my cable boxes to the cable company in the Direct TV box. I did not mention the Magic Jack after all I am using their broadband for my free phone service. I then told the customer representative, with a poker face, that I was contemplating dropping my broadband. She then reduced my broadband $20.00 a month to $34.00 a month! After all said and done, I have a positive cash flow of approximate savings of $113.00 a month! All started with a phone call. That equates to some “extra” sticks.
When I returned home, I called my garbage/waste management and told them I was going with another company for trash pickup. After all, it was cheaper. My existing company matched and dropped my waste bill from $37.00 to $23.00. Another $14.00.
B’stards…………
