My new custom humidor completed.

Well, here is my new custom humidor that was just completed. As many of you are familiar with the drill – I outgrew my 150 ct humi. I wanted a cabinet style humidor and looked everywhere but could not find anything to my liking. Late this summer, I come to find out that my retired neighbor not only smokes cigars but is a top notch woodworker. After mentioning to him that I could not find anything that I wanted, he said “I can build us some humidors” as a matter of fact he also built a smaller one for himself. The good thing about the whole project is that he lives two doors down and I was able to make changes on the fly when needed. (Not to mention that I was in his shop everyday after work!) We went off a sketch that I provided him. I am extremely happy with the end product and can appreciate all the time that Norm put into these humidors. The shell is American Cherry and stained to an almost chocolate color to match some furniture in the man attic. Inside is all Spanish cedar and beveled glass. Sorry for the not so great pictures.

This is the top. I went with glass on top and on both doors. I like the classy look and so far appears to be solid with no moisture leaks.

I went with some brass pull knobs and lock.

After a bit of research, I decided on the Avallo Accumonitor and am glad I did. Very happy with how fast it brings it back up to temp. I have two canisters on the bottom and two fans in back of the third draw. We dealt with Matt thru the process. He answered all of our questions, gave us suggestions and plain out helpful. The little box that you see in the middle is just so a cedar box that I had and stuck it in there.

Third drawer. This drawer is actually 1 ½ shorter as the fans are mounted in back of this drawer. He made holes in the back of this draw to increase circulation. I going to remove a couple of dividers on this drawer.

Norm actually when on a relentless search for some low profile hinges that were not too big and bulky. He found these SOSS low profile hinges at Rocklers. You can’t see these when the doors are closed.

it appears they are linked to his CP gallery, but he might have it set to private.

Images seem to be working for me. And wow.. That's impressive. Great looking humidor and a great story to boot. Congrats on the new storage space!

Thanks for the compliments everyone. It really feels good to have a one of a kind humidor that was made by hand by a good neighbor. I will have pictures of it full soon maybe tonight. Its been seasoning for about a week now in my neighbors house and two in mine. The temperature has been holding steady from day two.

Jzaid - I mentioned that him when he was done but said "Kristopher, I'm retired". I'll mention it to him again after he has rested up and is bored again. It took him from around the third week of October up to last week to get these done. I would have to say he worked every day on them.
 
[sub]Well here she is making some of those fine cigars home. On top is a Cigar Dosier that my nephew made for me. I had him make one for Norm and my other neighbor that also smokes. I'm lucky to have them so close and am able to always find one that is willing to smoke.[/sub]

Just entry pages of what the Cigar Dossier looks like. the re is a buch of info in the book though such as cigar history, cigar sizes, cigar terminology, etc.
