I don't have one, but looked into them when I bought my current house a few years ago. Turns out the bat house needs to be in a morning sunny spot which I don't have in my yard. I get tons of afternoon sun, but they don't like that. I do enjoy watching them hunt over my driveway though.
No Bat Houses, but I think one of our members has a Bat Cave.
I had one years ago. Came down from tornado weather, and I never put it back up.
I have Bluebird houses, and they're tricky in regards to keeping Cats away. (lower to the ground)
My neighbor has them too, and keeps cats and finches away with a bb gun. The finches will fight the Bluebirds for the nest, even after the Bluebird has finished building. I've never seen a finch lose. Nasty little bastids.
I also have Hummingbird feeders. Now they're cool, and the birds will get fairly friendly if you catch them at the beginning of the season with spiked up sweetness in the nectar.
I lived in a house with bats for a while. It was like living with the Pink Panther's Kato - you never knew when one would appear out of nowhere and startle the bejeebies out of you.
lots of bats around these parts, though. It's fun to watch them hunt! Like Hunter said, "Bat Country"!
When I lived in Gainesville, we would go see the bats leave the houses. UF has two large bat houses capable of holding thousands of bats. Doubt you need anything that big in the yard.
