Bat houses

I don't have one, but looked into them when I bought my current house a few years ago. Turns out the bat house needs to be in a morning sunny spot which I don't have in my yard. I get tons of afternoon sun, but they don't like that. I do enjoy watching them hunt over my driveway though.

I've got a good morning sun spot on the gable of my shed.

Too bad I would never see it as it is against my neighbors fence.

Still would love to have one.

No Bat Houses, but I think one of our members has a Bat Cave. :D

I had one years ago. Came down from tornado weather, and I never put it back up.

I have Bluebird houses, and they're tricky in regards to keeping Cats away. (lower to the ground)
My neighbor has them too, and keeps cats and finches away with a bb gun. The finches will fight the Bluebirds for the nest, even after the Bluebird has finished building. I've never seen a finch lose. Nasty little bastids.

I also have Hummingbird feeders. Now they're cool, and the birds will get fairly friendly if you catch them at the beginning of the season with spiked up sweetness in the nectar.

Turns out there is a natural bat house in my neighbor's back yard.....just saw 3 large bats come out of this.

And, no. I'm not on any mind altering substances.

I lived in a house with bats for a while. It was like living with the Pink Panther's Kato - you never knew when one would appear out of nowhere and startle the bejeebies out of you.

lots of bats around these parts, though. It's fun to watch them hunt! Like Hunter said, "Bat Country"! ;)

When I lived in Gainesville, we would go see the bats leave the houses. UF has two large bat houses capable of holding thousands of bats. Doubt you need anything that big in the yard.

Here's a pic of my son in the basement of our old place trying to wrangle a bat.

I just put mine up and so far no bats. Mosquitos love my wife, we do have several bats around already but we hope some residents take roost soon.

That is sad. They say reduction in natural habitat is part of the problem and well, unfortunately a fungus (white nose syndrome).

edit: misspellings
