Netflix Original "Stranger Things"

I was planning on starting Deadwood again, but I may have to give this one a go. Sci-Fi isn't my thing, but I love nostalgia movies.

I wouldn't call it Sci-fi in the alien, outer space sense. I'm not a sci-fi lover in those terms either. I did enjoy this series.

Did you catch the reference to MK Ultra? Google it if not. Very funny piece of real history.

The CIA mind control stuff? I didn't know that is what the project was called. I was mostly reminded of the movie Scanners, which I would guess was originally based that program.

Yeah. If you've seen the Clooney movie "Men Who Stare At Goats", it shows a more accurate representation of what that project looked like in real life. Hilarious film.

It's just wild that the government was so nervous about the Russians reading their minds that they decided to give a bunch of guys acid and see if they got psychic abilities. I mean, you hear crazy stuff, but that's TRUE. It actually HAPPENED. Declassified docs prove the programs existence and the extent of the (failed) research. That is just crazy.

They only made you think that it failed. Think about it....
That tactic is employed a lot more than most folks realize. And I don't mean conspiracies. It is often just strategic misinformation to keep the enemy guessing.

"I believe that with the advent of acid, we discovered a new way to think, and it has to do with piecing together new thoughts in your mind. Why is it that people think it's so evil? What is it about it that scares people so deeply, even the guy that invented it, what is it? Because they're afraid that there's more to reality than they have confronted. That there are doors that they're afraid to go in, and they don't want us to go in there either, because if we go in we might learn something that they don't know. And that makes us a little out of their control."

@Scap you been reading Terence McKenna or Graham Hancock? Be careful with that Ayahuasca!

This is a thread about watching TV.

Keep your elitist book talk to a different thread.

It was a joke based on the nature of the series, the mind controlling nature / abilities / consciousness of the lil girl, etc. The whole series was littered with nods to a slew of subjects, films, shows. Elitist? Give me a break.

Just got through Cinemax's "Outcast".....different subject matter, but it's a 'page turner' as well. Good show.

Dan, I hope you realize I was just being silly. I'm not one to watch a lot of TV and would rather read. Sorry if the irony didn't translate to the forum.

Ah, ok. I'm sorry I took it the wrong way.

I think a smiley face would have helped convey your humorous nature of the post. I took it the wrong way also. But type alone is sometimes hard to "Read" unless you know the person.

Don't try to back pedal now. Everyone here knows you're a dick. :D

I was "dogsitting" whiley son and wife hit the beach so I tore through the whole eight episodes. Great casting and production. Character motivation sometimes weak but that's par for the course. Smoked an illusione MK ultra Midway because it's the perfect gar for a show based on those sick and twisted asswipes. Played dog soccer, too! :)

I don’t know what’s worse…. A scammer or a spammer! 🤔
