Cigar Mold

I've search Google and looked for pics, but I can't find the answer to my question.

I've found some green(ish) spot(s) on a few cigar wrappers. All the same cigar.

My question is this: can cigar mold be wiped off or scraped off? Can it be "in" The cigar wrapper, like part of the wrapper?

I've posted a pic of what I'm talking about:20220805_162007.jpg

The pic is a bit blurry. It is not fuzzy though it looks like it might be.

Here is a better picture of what I'm talking about (hopefully😀)

Looks more like a water spot, which sometimes occurs during the leaf curing process.
ok, so you wouldn't have any problem smoking that cigar?

Also, can mold be wiped off mostly, or completely?

It's not ingrained into the wrapper at all?

Wipe it down with some rubbing alcohol 😉 just kidding. Wipe it with collided silver, let it rest and smoke it. I have had way worse than that!
I actually just received my silver in the mail today.

Can cigar mold be wiped off completely or maybe scraped off?

If it does wipe off, could that mean it's probably not mold?

I can't wipe it off and when I scratch it with my fingernail it doesn't come off either.

The green spots are ijust chlorophyll that has not been broken completely down during the drying process. There is nothing to worry about and will not affect the flavour in any way.

This def looks like wrapper discoloration due to water damage In general if the mold is close or at the foot of the cigar it ight me best to cut of a piece with the mold as it might have spread spores not the cigar itself. If it’s further away from the foot where the cigar wrapper is closed it can be wiped of

So generally, regardless of where the mold is located, it can be wiped off and removed?

I won't typically run into a mold that can't be wiped off?

It's a 5 Vegas Gold.

Chuck it.

Jk. It's a $3 cigar.. the 5V Casks are decent.. but it doesn't surprise me that the spot wasn't spotted during QC.

Yeah.. if even your nail doesn't move it, it's a simple waterspot. If I can't lick my thumb to wipe off a little plume, I chuck it and grab something else. Mold on cigars will not typically have the green, furry, raised look we think of when seeing mold. It's often white and can be powdery. People often confuse plume and mold, some think they're the same, in different stages.

Some think it's a natural process of aging and a good thing.. whereas the crystallization of the sugars and oils in the leaf have somehow matured. I don't buy that and don't believe it adds anything to the cigar. Light mold that is discovered after lightning will impart a musty flavor to the smoke. The dankness you can smell and taste upon entering a basement or cellar.

But it can taste like anything really.. whatever is most prevalent in the air is what's getting into the moisture that's aided the mold. I've tasted cooking grease in cigars from a B&M that was next to a Chinese takeout joint before. Bought 6 cigars there and couldn't figure out what I was tasting. Took almost a year and the last stick to finally make the correlation.

That was on a layover in Atlanta over 20 years ago. Over the years I've often wondered how many other people got a little unintended crab rangoon to go with their Fuentes! That entire little strip mall they were in has been long gone.. but remember that next time you visit a B&M while traveling... location, location, location!

Anyway, unless that little splotch is cyanide, I'd venture to guess you can spark that sucker up. If it goes awry.. simply say bye-bye.

Here's what I opened up the other day to a box bought earlier this year:

That's problematic to me. ☹

Oh wow. Yeah, lots of white dots there. Ok, cool. That helps clear things up.
If I can't budge it, it's probably ok to smoke. And green isn't usually a mold color for cigars.

Learned a lot today between all of you guys and google 😀

It's so close to the foot, if it concerns you just cut it out with an Xacto knife. The burn will even that little bit out in no time.
