USPS Raised Rates 7/13/25

The higher their rates go the less competent they become.

Looks like even more of my shipping will be Pirate Ship + UPS

Wow! The small flat-rate box started at $5 in 2010. For inflation it would be about $7.50 now, not $11.00.

@JCinPA Seeing as though it's not uncommon for a package to bounce back and forth from one sorting facility back to the other, several times, and then show no movement, and then it stops and is ultimately "lost", your picture is pretty accurate.

As Craig @lucasbuck pointed out, Pirateship is the way to go. To show a comparison I created a sample label for a package to Tom @BlindedByScience using 9 ounces and the dimensions of a small flat rate box from USPS. A coast to coast example.

$6.02 through USPS and $8.66 through UPS. I use UPS through Pirtaeship exclusively now.

@Rod figured it out! Sending it through all the unnecessary regional centers adds to the cost for your ā€œqualityā€ delivery, doncha know? St Louis, totally unecessary stop adds to both the quality of your delivery experience and the cost. As an economist I totally understand this! šŸ˜Ž The rest of you economically uneducated rubes simply don’t understand the value added of this wonderful service. 🤣

I so tire of the uneducated rubes who simply don’t understand or appreciate the wonderful value added of using our wonderful GOV parcel service, I don’t know what to say! šŸ˜† I’m a huge fan of Thomas Sowell, the senator John Kennedy of Economics. 🤣

I apologize, bringing Sen John Kennedy into this discussion may inject politics into this wonderful community and I should not do that. But the Internet service of PirateShip and UPS and competitive pricing and competition proves Joseph Schumpeter’s theory of creative destruction works. 🤣

$11 versus $7.50 for the same service. Or better service. Oh my aching Austrian economist ass.

Probably an excellent candidate to convert to 98% AI, including the deliveries...

How would you like this thing showing up at your front door? :D
