Question on flavored smokes

My fiance' got herself a tin of CAO Eileen's Dream (for the honeymoon in Aruba). Would they be ok in my humidor with the regular smokes? Or should I place them elsewhere? I have another humidor, but it is not seasoned and it has a rather crappy seal.

Funny you mention that. A buddy of mine has an Eileen's Dream in my humidor at the moment cause he's priming his. I haven't noticed any affect on my stash.

I left the celophane on it just in case. But I've heard from other experienced smokers that flavors don't blend just because they're in the same humi, and that it is a myth.

Hell what do I know though, I'm noobish.

I can't remember, but I thought I read that the flavors blend if they are in the same humi. That being the case, there is so much going on inside a humi with regular smokes......
 
AS far as I know, the flavors blending between non -flavored cigars is not too great an issue if the cigars are not in very close contact for extended periods. I still wouldb't put a really dark, oily, heavy cigar with very light/mild cigar for aging.
As for actual "flavored" cigars, I would not put one in my humi at all. Just for fear of blending Lars juice, Acid-oil or Moon-drippings with ISOMs or PAMs.

LOL. I actually left the cello on the tin, just in case. I put them in there until I figure out what to do with them. I might do a tuppedor for her just for that purpose. I will be getting a 15ct. otterbox for when we go away and I fear she will want hers with mine :sign:
 
I'm not sure how long it would take for a traveldor or close-by ciogars to pick up the flavors, but I wouldn't risk it. Get her her own humi and travel-humi! It will be a gift for both of you!

Not a bad idea. She doesn't smoke the quantity that I do so a small humi and travel one should be rather inexpensive. Even a 10 ct. is practically pushing it with her.
 
I started off smoking Macanudos out of the tin. :whistling: I bought them off the drugstore shelf and don't remember having any moisture or burn issues with a cigar that small. But that was about 6 years ago. I would suggest leaving them humidor for now, on the condition, you don't have anything in there you're storing long term or couldn't easily replace. However, don't open the tin and then store in the OtterBox. I would guess your soon to be wife won't be too disappointed if the cigars aren't coming out of a 65RH container. If she is, it's time to get her a travel box too.

My humi will be a temp storage solution until I either get her one or make her one. I don't think making a tuppedor will do though. When she looks at my nice, new, shiny, double decker glass top humidor with the fancy tassle hanging from a brass key and then looks at a tuppedor...the evil eye will be given. LOL

That tassel will do it every time! Particularly a fancy tassel, always stirring up feelings if inadequacy. Come to think of it, adornments of any kind are just asking for trouble. :sign: Good luck.
 
Personally, I would never mix flavored cigars with non-flavored cigars. If you do, you have the possibility of the cigars marrying (taking on other flavors). Not a good idea. Put them in a zip lock bag with a damp paper towel if it's temporary.

Well, I've come to learn over time that sometimes, Acts of Appeasement is necessary to avoid the evil eye.

Damned tassels anyway....
 
On occasion, I've kept cigars like the CAO Moontrance and Drew Estates Naturals (the one with the sweet and pungent pipe tobacco in it) in my spare humis along with other smokes. If you keep them in the tin and in the cello, they should not affect your other cigars at all in the short term. In the short term, meaning under a month, there may be a bit of their "aroma" in the box or humi but that fades quickly if you then air out your humi after they are gone.

I keep my vast supply of Lars Tetens in my humidor, buck naked next to my other cigars! I hope one day to create something even Dr. Frankenstein would be proud of: a Cohiba "Siglo Patchouli"
 
I bought a cabinet of Romeo y Julieta (DR) Vintage a while back and put them in a humidor that contained a mix of mild to full bodied cigars. The RyJ Vintage were pretty aromatic smelling with a sort of fruity floral bouquet (unlit). After a few weeks I began to notice that the milder smokes began to take on a bit of the fruity floral pre-light scent which also seemed to be slightly taste-able (?) on the pre-light draws. This did not translate to a different flavor or taste or nose when smoked though.

i've heard if you wrap them in a skirt or bra, the aroma from the flavored cigars won't affect the other cigars or humidor :p

all kidding aside, my wife enjoys an eileens dream from CAO (when she isn't digging into my cohiba sig I stash), i have a small tupperdore with some beads and spanish cedar in there to keep them fresh for her. they have scented the beads and the container.
