My buddy and I planning a road trip to Kansas City the weekend of the 20th (and will hit the event that 'Balls is putting on with Jorge on Saturday).
However, being that neither of us know a lick about KS, any suggestions as to what part of town to stay and any good drinking establishments to visit while we're there? Since we will be consuming (probably a good bit) of beverages each night, we were thinking of staying in the Country Club Plaza area to avoid cab rides (that is, if that's the best place to hit bars/pubs in the evening). I don't know much about Country Club Plaza, I just heard it was a pretty cool area which is why we were thinking of staying there. Perhaps there is an even better place to stay. We really don't care too much about our hotel/room since we don't plan on spending much time there, but a good location would be nice.
As far as bars, we're just looking for some fun places to hang out that don't get too crowded (and we're not really into big dance clubs anymore - there once was a day). We would rather not spend all of our loot on hotel and drinks at bars, so any cost effective solutions/suggestions would be greatly appreciated (that way we will have more $$$ to spend on cigars!).
