Padron Fumas

When Jorge was asked at the event at the Outlaw this weekend "Are you still making Fumas?" His response was "Not right now." Seems the fuma is getting a facelift, theyre trying to make it a little more consistent. No details were discussed but he basiclly said wait a few months and they should be back.

Yeah, Dirick is right. I wasn't sure about asking him about the Fumas since there are so many other things that are probably more interesting to talk about than a $1.60 cigar, but I also threw out the question nonetheless. What he told me was that one of the main problems was the fact that many vendors have not been selling them how they were originally intended on being sold. He further explained that some of these vendors were selling them at a price point that was way too high; in some cases 2-3 bucks per stick higher. Therefore, they decided that they needed to put on the brakes for now and re-educate vendors on how they should be sold. Jorge explained that they were always intended to be a $1.60 cigar and not what some vendors have made them become (which competes with other sticks in the Padron line). Jorge wasn't specific as to when they would begin rolling out Fumas again, but was direct in saying that they definitely will be coming out again before too long.

Any new news on these?

Call me snotty, but the truth is that 2000's can be purchased on sale for less than a buck a stick more than the $1.65 price point quoted. I've found the construction and overall smoking experience to be well worth it. I also enjoy the choice of wrappers that the "K" series has.

Don't get me wrong; I went through four or maybe five boxes of Fumas and enjoyed them, but I won't go back. I seemed to end up with more than my fair share of construction problems; tight draw, uneven burns, etc. 2K's and 3K's are my "go to" smoke, many week nights and those types of problems are just not there.

My $00.02 - B.B.S.

I agree wholeheartedly, BBS. Although it wasn't that long ago when I had some Fumas in my humi, I don't have the desire to go that route again when I can get a Delicias for just slightly more (or as you suggested, a 2000).

Very nice!

However, I don't think I'll be asking him about Fumas this time around.
